I was just checking some stuff, when I noticed this in my LHC profile page...

It's especially odd, as no one other then myself uses my computer, and BOINC has always been setup for a single person instillation. There would have been no one in my apartment (and through the locked door) to get to this host. Also, previously, there were a few other hosts that were attached and crunched some WUs. Would it not make more sense then for the user to have acquired more credit then 1 computer attached to that user acount, then for the computer to gain more credit then the user account it's attached to?

http://lhcathome.cern.ch/show_host_detail.php?hostid=95869

> Total Credit 3,380.09

http://lhcathome.cern.ch/home.php

OK, that isn't a link unique to my user account, but on the account page it shows up as

> Total credit 2,358.33

 Given no one else has attached with my computer, or has used BOINC on this box, this seems kinda wierd...

Unhide your computer(s) and let us look at it all for ourselves.

Live long and crunch.

He still has them hidden, guess that an answer is not needed by him. Why do so many people hide them anyways? It is not like anyone can hack them when not hidden.

Guess they are afraid that their boss or teacher will find out, that they installed BOINC on computers they were not supposed to install anything on :)

I think for many people this is because the system does not make it obvious how little info is visible to others. I asked over a year ago, could the info that is only visible to the logged in user be shown separately, on a 'private info' page rather than on the same url that everyone sees.

For some of us (familiar with php) it is obvious that pages can be different to different users. We forget that many users do not know the difference between html and php, and we forget that to those users the natural assumption is that what they can see anyone else can see also.

Most likely because the people that ask the question hide their computers and so when it comes up there is no way for me to take a look to even begin to try and figure out what is going on.

I do not have this problem so there is no way I can begin a search for an explanation. <shrug>

I can only put information in the Wiki when I can figure out an answer. In this case, I will also state that I don't believe that this is a common or major problem.

Best guess, during a merge of computers, back when there were some issues with the merge command, the values for credit got munged in some way. When they allowed multiple computers to be merged it may have been that the query to update credit summed the credit multiple times.

But, I am not going to waste time guessing when I cannot look at the information for myself.

Well, I won't say the question is not important. Just impractical for just about anyone to figure it out.

And, since the system is dynamic, any number of bugs could have caused this, the most likely, as I said, in the merge function.

THough I will also say that LHC@Home does have some other credit processes, like CPDN, and one of those may also have been the culprit.

ANd, you'r welcome ...
