We had a power outtage in the computer centre recently. The machine had rebooted and was running fine. Unfortunately it turns out that the workunit and result table had been coorupted. I am working on fixing it. cheers, Chrulle Research Assistant & Ex-LHC@home developer Niels Bohr Institute |

Thanks for the update. I see an "Oh Shit" situation happening here. All the work I returned for the past 24hrs is missing...somewhere between 20 and 30 wu's maybe. Paul. |

As with the others here, 5 results are showing as if they hadn't been reported... *shrug* If they got the results back and all we're missing is a few creds then nairy fuff, I say. :) |

Thanks for the update. I see an "Oh Shit" situation happening here. All the work I returned for the past 24hrs is missing...somewhere between 20 and 30 wu's maybe. IF the work was uploaded OK, but not entered into the database, it should in principle be possible to identfy that the files have been returned and correct the datbase from that. In my opinion if at all possible this should be done automatically whenever a result times out - there should be a file server search and if the files are there then the user should be deemed to have reported in. If info about run time, etc, is missing, then a 'zero credit' claim could be entered and the other results from that WU used to set the credit. Even if that is not done routinely, in a situation like this there ought, in my opinion, to be a script available for the admins to run to achieve the same effect. Work where the files are lost is lost and gone - I can live with that as simple bad luck. But it is somehow much worse to imagine that the work is complete, the files are there, and the scientists still lose the valuable data and the cruncher still loses the credit because of a missing database entry. But all that is a BOINC issue, not Chrulle's immediate problem - good luck to you Chrulle trawling through all those tuples. River~~ |

I lost some also my solution is to simply move on to another project shrug As long as they went into the science database they can be used, so no complaints. Only have to move to another project when they run out of work. Credits would have been good, but not the important part. Ray Pizza@Home - Rays Place - Rays place Forums |

I could give at rats butt about the science I'm only in it for the credits haw haw. No credit no participation lol. At least you're honest. Hey, will you do work for me if I promise to provide you an ample supply of imaginary numbers? I could really use a good lacky these days... Especially if it doesn't deplete my hoard of imaginary numbers I've got here to dole out. (j) James |

Didn't notice until now but only lost one here, no big deal but if it helps to identify them, it's this result. |
