I would scrap the navigation side-bar and put in the headings of The material that comprises the BOINC System in all of its glory can be found in the following topical categories: Getting started, help, manuals, reference materials. Turn all of those categories on the main page into html links on the side bar. This way, if someone wants to backtrack, they don't have to go back to the hompage again.
