I was using 4.45 before my switch and had no problems with downloads at all.

I am using 5.2.7 and having a terrible time with Ghost Work Units from download errors. Einstein@home is perfect - someone needs to take some leasons from those folks!

Maybe someone ought to upgrade to 5.2.13...

I just recalled that I had some computer crashing going on on those days.
- related to having done the recent java update.

HMMM I have been using BOINC 4.45 since it was first released, and have never had a problem with it. I refuse to upgrade until I am comfortable that all the bugs have been worked out. At this point, I won't be upgrading anytime soon if you get the drift. If you want to know a project that has problems, rosetta@home is TERRIBLE! They should have stayed alpha for a much longer time. GO LHC!!!!!!!!!

i don't see any probs with latest version.

If you check other computers with the manager window, you will have to get its password in the gui_rpc_auth.cfg file first.

I am still using 4.68 and have no problems with it. I know that I should upgrade sometime, when I tried before it lost over 1000 hours on a Climet Sulpher model. Had to restore a backup of 4.68 to get all those hours back.

They have realised that, and are in the process of setting up a separate Rosetta Alpha project to run in parallel. Once that exists the mainstream Rosetta project will only get WU of types that have been tired on the ongoing Alpha project.

GO LHC!!!!!!!!!

I'm here aren't I?

But I needed somewhere to go while LHC was down, and will be going back to Rosetta in the next lull in LHC work. In the long term I am most interested in Orbit, but that is a one-man show, and the one-man is only part time, it could be ages for the project to even *reach* alpha, let alone come out of it!

What I like about Rosetta is that the team are open to suggestions and quick to admit that they have got things wrong -- with that attitude I personally find I can forgive a lot.

I upgraded to 5.2.13 and still have loads of Ghost Work Units. Any suggestions on how to get these little bastards under control?

Other than upgrading to a 5.x.x version there is not much the participant can do about ghost workunits. The other fixes for this problem require action from the project.

You really ought to consider upgrading to something a bit newer.

The sequence was 4.0 -> 4.19, 4.50 -> 4.72, 4.20 -> 4.45, 5.1.x.

I got a computational error 35% of the way on a CPDN workunit. How do I restore that workunit? I am running Boinc 4.45 on XP. 2.26GHz processor

Basically, you don't. If you had backed up the folder, and unplugged the internet, then you could have restored and possibly retrieved the WU to keep on crunching. Otherwise, not.
