It looks to me as if they are filling the work buffer faster than we can empty it at present - 21hrs ago there were 340,000 waiting & 40,000 in progress, now there are nearly 490,000 waiting & 50,000 in progress (all numbers approx) River~~ |

They are the large 1,000,000 turn work units. Likely they will be able to grow for a bit ... though I did re-shuffle priorites again ... :) |

Likely they will be able to grow for a bit ... though I did re-shuffle priorites again ... :) Seems to be a mix - my first one returned claimed about 0.5 cobblestones, (or maybe it was a long job ended early? As it happend that box was on its second batch of WU before the last of my boxes got anything -- and at the time I was getting ready to go out for Saturday evening in the certainty that nothing would happen now till the mnorning... But as you say, main feeling at the moment is :) :) |

The number of current/maximal turns is given in the temporary file "fort.91" hawkeye@maggie:~/BOINC/slots/0> cat fort.91 171000 1000000 So I guess mostly all WUs end early. Michael Team Linux Users Everywhere |

It looks like they are testing an edge again so we will likely see a lot of early endings. But, I also have a few that are running for hours, the longest I have in sight right now is 5 hours ... so, not to dispair ... :) |

I believe that I had one machine that got about 20 in a row with crunch times < 1 min. The run times I have been getting are all over the place. So, this must be testing an interesting boundary condition ... We do seem to be chewing through them pretty fast though ... |

It seems that 500K WUs will not last one week.... I miss the days with 2000/5000 participants. You knew 100K WUs would last a month. The LHC staff is probably happier with the troughput now :) Michael Team Linux Users Everywhere |

Well, this may just be the first chunk of them. We can hope not ... but, many times they would send a chunk, then, more, until all the main chunks were chunked. Then there would be some 'dribbles" as they cleaned up the missing ones ... |

I having 50/50 short/long WU's - with my slowest computer needing 32hrs for 1,000,000 turn calculation. But this lot of WUs wont take long - lots of people find this a worthwhile project to crunch on - me included!!! BOINC@Hull . xfire . mySpace |
