Anyone else having problems downloading?

It just seems to be the one file that is failing for me.

I'm afraid I've got the same (or at least similar) problem:
The file is the same, but there occurs an error: 500 or 504.
I've tried to connect for at least 3 hours. Without any results...

Anyone able to help?

At the moment the server is trying to give out work to all the client it can therefore time out on some of the transfers of bigger files. If the problem persists on monday then please let me know.

Many thanks for the quick reply. Edit- I now have three WU's waiting just for this file, so have reduced contact time to 0.1 day to stop any more downloads. End edit

Maybe sometimes it's good to have a slow machine!

Seriously - It does not look good, it's now over 8 hours since the WU's were released and this particular file is only 61.05KB and is stuck at just over 29% downloaded.
I think there is something wrong with this file, but I will give it another 24 hours to see what happens.

Same here. One machine is okay but the other can't get past 31.23%.

One difference between the two machines is that the okay one has run LHC jobs before but the other is new to them.

This is true - two machines which did run LHC before are chugging through them. The other six are stuck on this file, all at 29%.

I have three boxes all happily crunching new wu's. Two had previously crunched the third was a virgin. One box had the following messages in its log (the other two didn't)

My suggestion is find these files on one of your boxes that is working and copy them to the boxes that are hanging. (Stop boinc running first on the target).

It looks like they are required for the graphics in the screensaver, ie nothing to do with the wu getting crunched.

It should work, but no guarantees. ;)

Done that. In fact I came back to post that solution and found you'd posted it already.:-)

Cheers

Did it work?

If so can you e-mail me the file please. I have attached another box this a.m. and it is having exactly the same problem downloading logo_machine_light_1.01_.tga.

I tried going in and deleting the partial download but it stopped again at 29% downloaded.A project reset did not work either.

Thanks Borandi.

My comps are crunching LHC again.

Edit - Strange it was just that one file. Others obviously did not have the problem but a few of us did. End edit.

May I also ask anyone to send me the file: logo_machine_light_1.01_.tga?
I would be most grateful as my comp has been idle for several hours already...
My e-mail is: ps69@hw.ac.uk

Or maybe someone who has access to this file would post it on some website?

Thanks,
Peter
