Just wandering when LHC will be giving out new work. I know the front page says the new year, it's just that it's the new year, I'm impatient and LHC is my main project! Happy New Year to all, Live long and crunch. Paul (S@H1 8888) BOINC/SAH BETA |

Nope, it say not "new year" it say "continue with another massive study after Christmas" .. And i hope too, that we can hear that it start soon. If we can hear 1 day or week before it start, i can startup the pc to the "right" time for it :) Anyway... Happy new year and funny crunching cirus :) |

So, is it time to start screaming we been cheated? :) I mean, heck, on the SAH boards we would be seeing a ton of threads about not meeting the schedule ... Ah well, I gotta get my cynicism under control ... |

What's the rush? CERN started back to work this week - and maybe not everyone is back at work yet. I'm quite sure that there is no 'Magic Button' that makes work - the study has to be designed and the parameter sets generated before we see work appearing at the BOINC end. We may not have work for a few days. Meanwhile, crunch something else - there's plenty to choose from. Gaspode the UnDressed http://www.littlevale.co.uk |

...there is no 'Magic Button' that makes work. You're right, but if I go down to visit the local Staples I can buy an "Easy" Button.. :) |

I hope not because I only signed up last month and I haven't had any work yet. :-( lol. Timing is everything, eh? Hey Paul, I think you're overreacting--I only counted 275,326 idendtical 'when will I get my work' threads on the S@H boards--not including attempts at normal threads that just got hijacked... 8) I'm watching the front page, too. Ready to get LHC unsuspended so my LTDs can get back under 42 million... (j) James |

I am not ranting at anyone here ... just the typical over-reaction on the SAH boards. |

Such an easy question...such a hard answer! BTW I'm easy and cheap at least that's what my button says! Live long and crunch. Paul (S@H1 8888) BOINC/SAH BETA |

Maybe they meant the next christmas ??? ;) Hey ES, You have to have a reactive crunch drive. Just make yourself available and the next thing you know, when you least expect it, you will be doing it, over and over and over and over again. It takes a lot to satisfy them. Cool ... someone took the time to count them ... :) Nah--I don't have the time to count 'em (and not enough fingers!). I took the ones I could count on one screen, squared it twice, and multiplied by my RAC. So I only underestimate the real number by a million or so. 8) Sometimes I wonder what is so hard to understand about the concept that "projects will not always have work"? Nothing. I find that usually, people just get mysteriously antsy when there's no results coming from a project they like. You know the feeling. You all feel it right now--that's why you're reading this. Something's wrong, and you can't put your finger on it. You just know it goes away when your boxen are crunching again. Some people just lack the brain-to-fingers filtering capability that keeps people like you from writing 'Where are my WU?' rants. Either that, or you're worried that someone else is getting ahead of you in the Great Imaginary Number Race. Your pick.... (j) |

Well, as far as the feeling of somthing is wrong ... nope ... LHC@Home is not even attached on any system at the moment. Hate the repeating messages. When work comes back, easy to install again ... all of 10 seconds or so ... |

Hey ES, Thanks David :-) Don't worry, something that good has to be worth waiting for. I crunch therefore I am. |

I was reflecting on my 14 months experience with LHC and thinking what if the recent announcement had said something like " The Physicists decided they did not like the results and are no longer going to use the Boinc platform." How would we feel? There wouldn't be the anticipation that is growing here. :) I think back to all the "breaks" and the smile on my face when I was pleasantly suprised at crunching LHC wu's when I was checking Boinc on a host on my ever requesting machines.( Then running to see if all the other hosts had or needed work.) This is what we have to look forward to hopefully VERY soon hehe (they have been known to have longer than expected delays.....(: [EDIT]I have a personal milestone I have been waiting now for a month to acheive after my goal 14 months or so ago of LHC being the top project in my Boinc credits ....soooo close now [EDIT] |

My personal goal is to reach > 0 credits. Wish me luck. I added a few new projects because of the current crunch over at S@H and would you beleive that currently 3/4 of them are down. At least we'll always have Paris, or was it Madagascar? |
