It seems to be a fact that some people tend to hoard WU's for this project.

This is a shame as it not only stops the work from being spread around all available computers as they finish the current WU but it slows down the flow of results back to the LHC.

This means that they wait longer for the results thus not creating new work sooner.
This to me seems counterproductive.

Well thats my 2 cent's worth, what are your feelings?

Indeed. I've got a couple of machines and the settings mean I usually grab about 6 WUs over a few days. I then often spend a couple of weeks waiting for more WUs to be available, as the slower machines & hoarders gradually crunch through their units. :(

don't forget about those ev0l people that collect work, print it out and hang it on their trophywall, never to send it back...

The deadlines were shortened precisely to discourage hoarding and expedite the return of results. There was considerable uproar and complaint, probably from those who found they couldn't hoard any more. I think the deadline is out to about seven days again, but five days should be fine for most people.
