Hi Folks, i have here an anoying problem with connecting the boinc manager to my pc (localhost). some times (not shure, but I think it happens more often if i was logged in as different user before (NOT 2 users at same time)) boinc manager fails to connect to localhost with error message: wrong password. I can copy'n paste the pw from the config file and bm is able to connect then working properly, but one reboot/logoff later ist's the same problem! I tryed to remove ALL files of boinc and reinstalling again, but with same problem again! sixtrack is starting properly, so there is no work lost, but its really anoying since its my home pc and is powerd on/off once or twice a day! Does anyone have the same problem or an solution for this? Does BOINC store some connect information in the registry which might be corrupt? Maybe I can cleanup things there. thx for help Rocko btw: boinc version 5.2.5 (recent versions had same Problem) on a WinXP prof sp2 |

I have only had trouble with it remembering a blank password. Any other password I have tried has been automatically put into the localhost for me. While this isn't really an answer I would suggest changing the password to something easy to remember and type. BOINC WIKI ![]() ![]() BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

I have only had trouble with it remembering a blank password. Any other password I have tried has been automatically put into the localhost for me. Well, I changed my password to a something easy (and short one), and now boinc remembers it! Seems a little strange to me, but who cares if it works? thx for help... ...Rocko |

I have only had trouble with it remembering a blank password. Any other password I have tried has been automatically put into the localhost for me. Does this password have to be entered whenever the computer is rebooted? I have a similar problem, and want to be able to have everything restart on its own, unattended. To be specific, right now after a reboot, BOINC mgr can connect to localhost. If I then use it to connect to a remote machine (which works fine) and then reconnect to the localhost, it complains about my local password. regards, Rob |
