<One Question, have been watching the w/u.Are they about 6 Hours long now?
I hope so,that would be great.Better back it up and save it in Cache ,just
in case it is like those w/u from the Experiment I dumped for errors. This Linux
Box is Rock Solid.Errors are generated through uploads with this other experiment.
Corupted the work to make it FuBar.6 HOURS????

>Hello Desti,
I was a visitor to your site last week,How are you guys doing? After the w/u was
almost complete after 1 hour 5 minutes at 95% done,CPDN came on,LOL.From
the % part of a w/u figured it to be about 6 hours,LOL 1 Hour is just fine Thank you,LOL,also got another w/u downloaded ready to run.How long has LHC been
dolling out w/u to Nix users Desti? If you tell me a long time.I will have a bone to pick with the NIX usesrs at my Team.Actually this could cause a more drastic choice if I have been left in the dark {persay} by my "Teammates"
I will be more than Angry.Trust me.How long have you been getting w/units desti?
Sincerely
Douglas

Doug, NIX (as you call it) has been getting WU for at least this long:

Linux/x86 4.66 7 Apr 2005 11:36:46 UTC (That's the application)

It must be longer than that. This host
was created at 22 Feb 2005 16:16:17 UTC.

I've no idea of when it was, but the host can be created regardless of if there's a client available or not.

Me neither. I was just looking for clues. The particular host is mine. If there
was no work for Linux available, why should I create a host? Without
having a reason to do so, the given date is a good upper bound for the
Linux app. release date.

Well, we had linux machines in our beta test, and they delivered about 7% of the overall chrunching power, back in september 2004.

I do not really understand this thread. I thought workunits for linux and windows were the same, only different clients of course. Do you say that linux computers don't get as much work units as windows computers? I planned to install the client on my linux-based workstations as well, so I'm a little confused now and wonder if there's any sense in doing so.

According to Boincstats.com, there are 39,030 copies of various operating systems running. Linux accounts for 3,139, which is 8% of total OS distribution. Click here to see a graphic chart at the site (scroll down just over halfway).

Presently the LHC project has a TeraFLOPS rating of 3.358 (Trillions of Floating Point Operations Per Second).

Crunch, crunch!

No! Distribution of work is not affected by the kind of OS you are running,
like Predictor (AFAIK). In LHC beta, before Sept. 2004 according to Chrulle,
there was only a Windows client available. So we were just guessing when
the Linux client became available.

Have a lot of fun...

No i am saying that of the work we gave out, 7 % was done by linux machines. A linux machine can get just as much work as a windows machine. There are just a lot fewer.
