So ever since I upgraded to 5.2.2 a couple days ago my computer has been restarting on its own several times a day. I'm not very computer literate so I was wondering if any of you could help me out. I checked for viruses and spyware and that all checks out good, after that I'm kind of lost. I'm cruncing LHC, Einstein and Rosetta. All were being run prior to the upgrade with no problems. Although I read Rosetta requires a lot of memory, I'm only at 256 MB currently... Anything else please let me know, and thanks in advance. Check out my blog Singularity Now |

If it's a total system reboot, I'd say that you were looking at the beginnings of a power supply failure. It might not be related to your upgrade to 5.2.2 at all. Someone who is more technically proficient could probably tell you how to test it, and what to look for specifically. |

It may also just be a heating problem. Get some canned air and blow out the inside of the case to clear the dust bunnies. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

To be sure it's BOINC, uninstall it (but don't delete the BOINC folder, so you can restart the WUs later), and see what happens. Since the BOINC projects make the CPU work at 100%, when you uninstall, run something that stresses the CPU and Memory like Prime95. This way you, you see if the problem was BOINC or related to something else, like the sugestions in the posts above. Good luck ;-) Professor Desty Nova Researching Karma the Hard Way |

I have midterms to study for this weekend and essays to write as well, hopefully I'll have a few minutes to try some of this out. Thanks! Check out my blog Singularity Now |
