5.2.2 has become the recommended core client at the BOINC main site today. 4.45 and 4.19 are still there flagged as older versions.

I would expect that as soon as the LHC programming team can wrap themselves around the new core client version, we'll hear about it. Kinda like trying to drag the state of Mississippi kicking and screaming into the 20th Century ...

Well, I upgraded one of my machines to 5.2.2 now that it is official...

Though I can't quite understand why it would not let me install it as a service on that machine ...

it would be nice if lhc would upgrade to 5.2.2. if i would have known they didn't support it i wouldn't have done it. i've had problems going back to 4.45 but, i still have a few machines not upgraded. my guess is they WILL have to upgrade the server at some point. i haven't had any problem with any other projects and this new version.

Paul --

By any chance, is the machine you refer to above one that runs a very old version of Windows ?? Sometimes its the little things that sneak by us ...

No, one of my Dell Dual Xeons ... My main account is an administrator account but when installing it says my administrator does not seem to have rights to start services. Rather strange.
