It would be nice to have a similar program like setiqueue for lhc, and for good reason. Lhc seems to be a little bit poor on other extensions. Does anybody have some useful links ?

Thanks

The BOINC client has a built-in queue functionality that will download a queue of workunits. A lot of it depends on your 'days between connection' setting in your preferences combined with the time estimates that LHC makes about how long it takes a workunit to process.

I suggest you not go overboard with the queue and go hoarding workunits. 2-3 days would be the max I'd suggest. If you go too far, you won't DL any work becuase LHC thinks you won't get back online before the WUs are due in.

The problem is that I have some more pc-s I can use but they are on a private network, so I need some kind of a proxy server (like setiqueue) to be able to put those machines to work. And no, I cannot get those machines to have direct access to Internet, because otherwise I would have done so.
So the question still stands.

Thanks.

Aha. I never needed the proxy feature of Setiqueue, just the queuing. IMO, the proxy functionality that you're looking for isn't related to BOINC or the science apps, it's going to have to be in a third-party app... In that case, you just need any HTTP proxy software. Linux does this somehow, I'm sure. For Windows, all you need is a little proxy app. There has to be a small free HTTP or SOCKS proxy out there, no?

Googling turned up a few suggestions for Win32:
www.parosproxy.org - more for traffic analysis, but it's a proxy at heart
www.privoxy.org - a privacy proxy primarily, but should work, works across OSes

There is no queueing app for BOINC for the principal reason that the queueing mechanism available in SETI Classic was open to abuse. At one point there was so much cheating going on that it was seriously hampering the project's objectives.

Not all proxy servers will work for BOINC. Although BOINC uses HTTP and FTP for most work, file reporting has been done with a proprietary protocol that some proxy servers can't handle. This is a security measure.

However, there is a move to using https instead, at which point any remaining proxy issues should evaporate.
