Well Paul my wife leaves me the keys to my cars and truck but she knows I won't drive them and get them dirty this time of year and it is nicer here at home anyway Just running Einstein right now until we get some LHC I have one more Seti Classic running but on this machine a few minutes ago I got this box to pop-up after I turned in my last one. SETI @ Home ERROR "This version of Seti@home is obsolete. Please download a new version from our website" So after the last one is finished on another pc my *official wu total" will be 14,116 This will just get more Einsteins done here when LHC is asleep. But I will keep an eye on this place Volunteer Mad Scientist For Life |

I moved from Classic a long time ago and have never regretted it. The number of people that seemed to be ONLY interested in the WU counts ... plus, I could finally do more than one science project at a time. At one time I thought of running my numbers up more, but, even then we knew that we were doing more work for less effort than Classic, so, vanity lost and I have this terminally odd number ... :) Still, it was one of the better of the first generation systems (if not the best - I did not try more than 4 of them, so I may have missed one). I am still pretty project neutral. LHC@Home though oriented towards Physics (my favorite science) it is really only engineering studies with the long term gain for physics. This is why I have been waiting for AstroPulse with such eagerness ... that will give me 3 physics projects. So, I also give most support to Einstein@Home ... |

So there will be nothing till the new year then another half million or so WU (see news on home page). At least it gives the servers the public holidays off, saves CERN paying them kiloWatss-and-a-half ;-) Seriously, many thanks to the project for keeping us informed and I#ll be the first of many participants to echo back your kind wishes for a Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year. Well, lets keep warm the CPUs! Now I'm trying some Rosetta and Simap Wus, but i'll keep always annoying lhc's scheduler, ready to catch new work as soon as it's available. Happy Xmas everyone! |

(well I just typed out a long post and hit the wrong button and I am not in the mood to retype all that and the BBcode so....I hate my dialup) yeah, tell me! but after the first half million or so times I figured out I could type in notepad and then it wouldn't get lost if the posting failed Next problem: *remembering* to tyoe it up in notepad... :-( |
