I just fired up a P133 with 96MB Ram. My P133 goves 100 Dry/150 Whet. It initally said 60hrs per wu... its 35 hours in and says 57hrs predicted left! BOINC@Hull . xfire . mySpace |

43358 got a short WU this time round - only about 13 hours! Before everyone else gets all smug that their boxes only took about 13 minutes, I'd like to point out that its total turn-around time for 913630 was still 50% FASTER than everybody else! Heh! Why am I not surprised that Cx166 likes the number 13, though? :) Henry |

Is it just me.. or do these current WUs seem to run real fast? like under 5mins? I just finished about 20 of them and most have been those fast ones that take just a couple minutes and a few that are the 2hr type wu's. Pending Credit Volunteer Mad Scientist For Life |

Fairly common for LHC@Home ... Some studies seem to have a lot of short work units as they seem to be testing a boundary condition. |

Keep in mind that short run-times do not imply invalid science/operation. Mot projects have some variance in the run time of the work units. The only projects that seem to be less susceptible are Einstein@Home and Predictor@Home. SETI@Home has the -9 "noisy" work units, and here we have the ones that are unstable and die early. Anyway, the good news is we have work, the bad is that it is going fast ... |

Yes Paul that is why I posted my "pending credit" link. We always get those running LHC. But then there were several more than usual. As you know back in the Seti Classic days those 1 minute wu's still counted as 1 but with LHC you will get those tiny .07 type credits stacked up. We are about to run out of work again (maybe) But I am loaded and ready to go.......if I didn't and ran out I would have to run a few more Seti Classic's just to run up the total (13,830) ......last time I checked. Server Status Up, out of work 47,863 workunits in progress 41 concurrent connections Well that happened fast (or I type BBcode really slow) Volunteer Mad Scientist For Life |

Magic, Yes, I remember those bad days. And there were people that would "clone" results, check for -9, and best AR, all to improve their scores. Sadly, the whole point of the participation got lost in the rush to the numbers. I probably should have finished a more round number, but, in our discussions we did discover that BOINC was doing as much science as Classic at a fairly early age . Mostly of course because of the lower redundency. No more than is needed to do the job. Ah well ... when I was able to start doing work for more than one project at a time, well, I never looked back. As can be seen in my signature, I like to support a few (though I keep messing with my resource shares - Einstein@Home is the current BMOC). WIth luck I can get it to become a higher total than SETI@Home ... same thing with Predictor@Home ... though I still think they need to get their act together ... |

Well that happened fast (or I type BBcode really slow) Yes, with the influx of the users from SETI classic these tiny WUs never had a chance... Team Linux Users Everywhere |
