Server Status Up, out of work 33,958 workunits in progress 39 concurrent connections  Well I did fire up my old PIII 500 and load a couple but I only have one left on that one and one on this one and 4 on the other one next to me........and I haven't checked the other machine yet! I checked last night before going to bed and the WU # was actually going up a little so I was hoping there would be more this morning........guess I got up too late! But I will keep checking........ Server Status Magic Still work on 3 systems, only one with it here, other running CPDN now. Even with only one left on some systems now we know who has all the units (just kidding) Was bringing trash to the transfer station on Friday and picked up an IBM Aptiva system that someone left there. When I got home I just connected the keyboard, mouse and monitor from wifes system to it and it started right up. Has 48 Megs of memory (have not looked to see what type, and a AMD K6 (2) processor, don't know speed of it. Will have to take the case apart to see what type of memory it has, if it is the PC 100 I have more to add or replace, but it probably is the EDO that I don't have spairs of. I think the K6 used a diferant socket then the Athelon so can't change the processor. If nothing else I can pull the floppy drive out for the wifes system, she is crying for one even though neither of us have used floppys in a long time. She would like the modum also but no phone line whare her system is, we have a wireless network that she connects up to. I was going to put the modum from the old Pentium 133 into hers, but it is for a ISA slot, only PCI on the newer systems. If I can't update that some I may just get a new MB and CPU for an extra cruncher. Can't see spending a lot on power if it is too slow. That old one I just got running and doing LHC needed a new HD (I have a new one but haven't loaded it yet)so I have the one on that computer that I pulled out of an old 1995 IBM Aptiva with a PII w/W98 OS I was running seti classic on it for the last month or so and it was my slowest machine since I started back in 2000. It took about 40hrs to run each seti classic WU (the one I'm on right now does em in about 2.5hrs) So I put that same HD (tiny 4.3) in this PIII 500 and so it says it only has a PII and so does the LHC list of my computers here. I run Einstein and LHC 24/7 and if one is out of work I run seti classic at the same time as the other one that is still running. AMD 3200+ (200g HD-1g ram) AMD 2200 P4 2.5 PIII 500 My AMD 1700+ died on me when the fan quit and ran for a few hours when I was not home. And 2 old PII's that I run to test parts that tend to appear out of no where. Just trying to run my seti classic numbers up until it gets shut down for good. That 40 hours for a SETI classic unit is not nearley as bad as when I tried it on a pentium 133, stopped it after about 65 hours. Forgot how far into it it went. Taking a ride over to Vermont tomarrow, maby after I get back I will run CUPZ on that Aptiva and see what K6 it has in it. Not holding out much hope for it but for free I can't complaine. Wife wanted the Modum for her system but when I took the case apart it was one for an ISA slot, which she dues not have. All active forum members/crunchers, please vote for SSE/SSE2 support in "Questions/Wish List" message board. I think it will greatly increase processing power for capable processors. I am posting it here, because people mainly read this forum/topic :).  this game has no name |

The last few times this week when we were running low I saw it jump right back up but decided to check one more time before I  and it was down to about 4K so I decided to load up 3 machines here (that one I brought back to life died again and instead of wasting money fixing the old PIII 500 I am going to get maybe that AMD 4400 system)I just got up and had to check and sure enough the server is out of work! It's a good thing I stay up until 4am so I can load up the last 4K on the server  Ok.....I had my morning cappuccino so I better get something done around here so I can check back later! Another famine before the feast, hmmm? Has LHC@home always run like this? Yes, LHC studies results then generates new WUs. Sometimes the pause maybe hours on up to days. Never fear WUs will return.

So now I am just running Einsteins and fired up the old seti classic (just to run up the seti numbers.....13,776 right now) I have the luck of having to d/l an Einstein 7.96MB with my worlds slowest dialup.....which takes an hour plus makes me stare at this page while it takes a few minutes to load. I could pay for a satellite IP connection.......but I would rather pick up another top of the line pc I guess I'll go watch an NBA game and check back later! Volunteer Mad Scientist For Life |

I just fired up a P133 with 96MB Ram. ETA on a Rosetta WU? 60 hours :D Lol bring back the P133s! That 40 hours for a SETI classic unit is not nearley as bad as when I tried it on a pentium 133, stopped it after about 65 hours. Forgot how far into it it went. BOINC@Hull . xfire . mySpace

I just fired up a P133 with 96MB Ram. 43358 finally finished its second-ever LHC workunit this morning! 13 days... :( And since the boinc benchmarks keep returning the CPU speeds as a NaN, it then claims zero credit! (even for WUs inside the time limit, obviously) |
