The real problem is the projects where the developers have no real idea what the running time is going to be because the inputs are too complex (like Protein Predictor has). After a month or two of the new versions being out in general hands, you should have a good idea how wrong the initial estimates are (take the average correction factor, and you won't be too far off from the % error in the original fpops estimate). I can't see how BOINC > 4.7+ can learn anything effective from either SixTrack or MDIV > Yes, the sudden death problem was taken into account. This is precisely why the estimate is reduced slowly. If a completion time is less than 10% of the midified original estimate, then the estimate will move down even more slowly just so that a few fast returning results will not upset the estimate too much. John, Ok, thanks ... I get it now ... :) Then again I have not been at my best this last week (coming out of it??) and so, easily led astray. |

Any estimates as to when 4.7+ will be released to the general public or is it too soon to tell? |

Sigh.) Henry |
