Well the title says it all really - I have the latest nVidia drivers (just downloaded tonight) for my Windows XP service pack 2 system, with a reasonable nVidia FX 5500 video card, plenty of RAM (768) and a decent 2.6 Mhz Pentium 4 processor. The system is stable in every respect, but I cannot get more than the count-down of the performance measuring prior to showing the actual graphics when I attempt to do so in screensaver mode. I have no issues when I ask for the graphics to be show from inside the program, however - and in fact I had to choose between SETI@home and LHC@home: the superior graphics of LHC are what convinced me to change over - SETI's graphics are purely appalling by comparison ! (and this after many years of crunching SETI classic... |

Same for me and I am running on AMD Athlon XP 2100+ nVidia GeForce MX 440 graphic and plenty of ram (512 mb)</blockquote> I also have this problem, When starting the graphics from within the Boinc manager everything looks ok. I always have the screensaver up for 5 minutes after which it will blank so not to put to much cpu time in showing graphics. With LHC@Home when the screensaver starts strange things happen. I get a Boinc screen with a system message about the progress of LHC. This screen alternates with the count down graphics screen from LHC, however the countdown doesn't progress. When I want to take control this is also very difficult, it takes about 30 seconds for Boinc screen and LHC countdown screen to completely disappear. I am running on Pentium 4 1300 Mhz + nVidia Geforce 2MX 400. Anyone knows a solution, it's very annoying, I cannot use the screensaver for LHC anymore. |

Also The problem can't be related to DirectX cause then both the screensaver and the graphics from within the Boinc manager would be affected. This is not the case, only the screensaver graphics are disfunctional. The other threads I found: http://lhcathome.cern.ch/forum_thread.php?id=1157 http://lhcathome.cern.ch/forum_thread.php?id=385 http://lhcathome.cern.ch/forum_thread.php?id=1238 This problem seems to be neglected. It deserves some attention! |
