Not to highjack your posting, but what version of BOINC do you use?
I had a few hrs ago a strange boinc pop-up message "couldn't connect to server" and ALL screens within BOINC were blank: projects, work , transfer, messages,...
btw...I'm using 4.71 since yesterday.
Removing the program from memory and restarting just fixed "MY" problem (for the moment).

It probably said couldn't connect to client (or daemon). This would indicate tht the manager cannot connect to the daemon, and there are a small number of possible fixes for this. First is to try to select computer localhost. The second is to try a restart of the manager. The third is to stop boinc and restart. The fourth is a reboot. And the last is to look to see what other application is using port 1043 and port 31416.

Boinc 4.25 ....I dont like how 4.45 allows Einstein dominance due to the report deadline issue.

I did restart and re - install Boinc and the problem persisted.
This is the only machine that is having this problem....so clearly a fresh install of WinDoze is in order.

This is the only machine I have that is having these issues.

the dominance issues to which you refer will work themselves out after a few days of computing. There is currently a thread on the SETI forums about this very thing. (well, basically the same thing)

This is the link to that thread.

The logs are generated automagically. So, if you open the BOINC directory, what I an interested in should still be there ... .TXT and .OLD files ... you just copy them out and zip them up ...

@PB,

I never know ... so I always ask ... as it said in on of my Science Fiction books I am "... like a Jubba freak looking for his next spike ..." :)

I worked a little on messages yesterday as I was not much up for heavy lifting ... and today does not look that good either ...
