I've got boinc installed as a service and as such can't see the wonderful LHC screensaver that i've heard all about.
Is there any other way of getting to see the screensaver apart from reinstalling ?

You can check it out by going to: "WORK" menu and press the "graphic"item in the leftside-menu than.

Maybe you should select BOINC again as your DEFAULT-screensaver (by right-clicking on your desktop-screen and go the screensaver menu)

OR indeed... go out and droooool at the PC-store. hehehe I bought new parts 1st week of June (well, bought all things except a new monitor ... and this beast is hot (fast) and cool (watercooled) at the same time :)
Had to do it, my PSU-"exploded" in my old p3 500Mhz (builded that one 5yrs ago) so it was "nice" excuse to get something new ;)

heh closest i'll get to a new computer is replacing the psu in the one in the bedroom which has been offline for a week due to the grinding noise of the fan keeping the wife awake =/

I tried via the manager nothing happens and the via screensaver options and i get the standard boinc screensaver (% done) i guess i'll check paul's wiki to see if theres anything there and if not i'll just reinstall it.

Mine was grinding for over a year... but than... end of May this year...KABOEM and all lights were out (it activated the Auto-fuse from "home-power-net") ... the fuse inside PSU wasn't even melted. I was just waiting for that moment I guess because I checked some stores online 2weeks before and made already a list with "goodies" :D

btw...check if your firewall isn't blocking "boinc.scr" (or something like that) or you will not see screensaver either ;)

ok reinstalled, couple of funny things
The screensaver runs from the manager ( very nice btw =) )
If i right-click desktop->properties->screensaver->boinc->preview
it sits there at the 5 seconds stage of the measuring performance and keeps restarting the count back to 5.
If i change the thread priority of the sixtrack.exe through task manager from low->normal it runs fine from the preview button.
Very nice screensaver =)

Never mind the videocard, Thierry. It'll do.
Although Blank says to update your videocard drivers... there is nothing to update. The Catalysts 5.7 are far overdue.

Yes. Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services - Right click on BOINC - Properties - Log On (tab) - Local System Account - Allow service to interact with desktop.

This change will allow the screen saver to show.

I really like the BOINC-community :) Still NO bad experience on forums or whatsoever. AND I also learn a lot ... like admin-servers are needed to setup different etc (like in "this" problem) and with all the hokus-pokus to get my sig done...I'm intrested into the html-code 2 (even if it was only getting 3 images into the sig...nxt thing s maybe getting those 3 in only 1 image/link :D ... OMG :-P
