The number of WUs keep going down and the number of participants keep going up (now up to 10130). I though that sign-ups were going to be stopped at 10k?

Well, this is not a surprise.

LHC is known as being a project different from others. Sometime there is a lot of work, then there is no work at all.

Best greetings from Belgium

At my best guess, we'll run out of work at 8:15PM CST (US) today. That's approximately 105 minutes from now, or 2:15 UTC.

The new server has no problems keeping up with the load of the new users, so we will open up for another 2000. Have a nice weekend.

:=)
gives me a good feeling we are getting faster work those units out...

If LHC realy starts with the Data, it will be much more then now...

i see the current WU´s only for Test and Server Maintaince

And dont think, they will give us the Interesing work,
for that they have some Supercomputers, wich make it faster then we do, we will only get the uninteresting Rest of Data, wich dont need short Workout`s, and has Time 1-2 Weeks, or just for Data Varification or Overnightwork......

People who up their contact period in order to download extra units do 2 things.

First, and most obviously, they prevent others from getting units.

Second, and more subtly, they delay the completion of runs by up to a week. If everyone had grabbed 1 wu and finished it, then the entire run would have been finished. Now, the run can't be completed because some users who have grabbed 5-6 days worth of work.

Hmmmmm...

I notice account creation was still open, a case of "hurry up and wait".

There are about 3.6K new work units now available so the outage was short lived.

I trust the number will keep increasing for a while....
Cheers,
Gary.

Well, San, I can assure you that no Supercomputers at CERN are working on LHC accelerator beam tracking, and even if they were they would be much less productive than LHC@home which is delivering around 3 TeraFlops right now.

The beam studies being done on LHC@home are serious production work. There is a lot more of them to be done over the next weeks. We will make some written results available in due course to our crunching community.

I look forward to seeing the results, even though I will have to do some serious googling to make sense of half of it ;)

Yes, and now the hoarders must feel pretty stupid! 95,000+ WU's available by now!

Tsk tsk tsk!

EDIT: 104,000+ by now!
