Dear Boincers.

We will host a small workshop on Boinc on the 11th-12th of July 2005 at CERN.

In connection with this we would be interested in the viewpoint of the BOINC user community. So we are looking for a couple of motivated users who would be interesed in coming to CERN to spend two days with us discussing Boinc and Boinc projects. It would be an opportunity to meet the people behind Boinc and get a tour of CERN and the LHC@home project.

Unfortunately, we don't have any funding for this workshop, so everyone has to fund their own travel and accomodation, but we could help you find a reasonably priced hotel or youth hostel in the region. We're deliberately trying to keep the workshop small and cosy, so we can only accept two persons - first come first served.

If you would be interested in coming please send an email to:

When i first heard of this workshop, i hoped user input would be welcomed.
Big respect for the decision.

....this is tempting, but you'll likely find those of us from the West Coast severely jet lagged and hung over from sampling all the wineries in the South of France.

No, you will be fine. Travelling east is not to bad for jet lag. The day you arrive you will be very tired. The trick is simply to stay awake until bedtime, and you will be fine the next morning. It going home that will be a problem.

The wine might be a problem. We are only a couple of hours drive from Bourgogne.

:-)

I'm assuming you've gotten your two volunteers already.

Nice pics, I want that machine room! Not so much a farm as an agricultural society! Is that what supercomputers look like these days?

Yep, a bit of-topic but this is also a nice vid-link on the supercomputer(s) at the Nvidia base on which they compute to get the next videocard-CPU's...really amazing (±20Mb).. Speakin' of RAW-POWER :D

But because it's posted in cafe-forum, I think it doesn't matter :)
