Hi. I'd like to share something with you guys. I just want to prove that I did not cheat. My one top host (dual opteron) has just jumped to #3 position in total ranking.
When LHC was on last year, I got somewhat 16.000 credits on that host. When LHC came back this year, I had the machine re-installed with different OS. The newer client also identified the cpu different (previous: AMD Opteron bla bla / now: Authentic AMD bla bla).
Problem was that I couldn't merge them due to different OS id, different cpu identification.
Well, guess i got it fixed...
Here's how I did it:
Dual boot.... 2 OS'es (XP 32 bit and 64 bit)... leave the old OS untouched. Install BOINC client 4.12 on new OS. Yeah, I know LHC will nag you and want you to upgrade, but upon connect it will create a host id.
4.12 client detects AMD Opteron id... then install 4.19 over it.... and connect again.... now... cpu ID will switch to newer name... TADA!!!
now, run the client from the old OS on the new OS ... so the OS ID's become identical...
BOINC Host stuff will allow host info to be changed if it's one field only... either OS (caused by service pack... for example) or... cpu upgrade....

ergo: now you can merge! :-)

Cheers,

Sysfried

Make a trip to the mountains,
walk around

visite a market

visite friends

visite grandma

read a book (non computer related)

run 10 KM

go to a zoo

But as the other persons urges you,

don't pass to much time in front of the ...

your are just above normal operating

At your age, you should think to define and build a family and initialize the start the debugging the next generation.

Better wait for the next boinc client release, then it restartes the
add new strings.

take care and give yourself a good time.

from your profile, your are doing windows and linux.
I guess, this combination let you suffer more than you thing you are suffering.
Friendly and respectfull.

When have your heard a bird singing for the last time?

Unfortunately you are to far away, but I would take you in a room
at least for 2 hours, in this room is only 1 chair/Stuhl and your "correction"
will be, to sit on that chair for 2 hours without any "pc" around.

no pda, no imux, nothing belonging with "computer"

Your are that sort of people, if they can, they would load a linux system
to the washmachine.

so have a nice day and crunch what you can now!

Darn... I knew that there's some kind of trade off.... I'll go out and google for a suitable source and will attempt a first configure and maybe later compile?

That could kill me.... Isn't there some kind of UNO thingy that will keep you from putting me through hell by causing mental stress????

But somehow a friend of mine... who happens to be on my team... calls me 'performance bitch'... I wonder ... could that be the reason why there's only us two on that team?

RIC! We are way off topic... can some admin move this thread?

PS: RIC, what if I told you that I ride my bike at least once a week? I've got a total of 2300 km on it within the last 2 years....
