Ok, not a scientist, but.. get yourself a paper and pencil, and calculate the 2000th digit of pi by hand.
That'll keep you busy. :p

I still remember how to do a square root by hand on paper.

@ Sysfried
sorry for you.
(I feel with you...)

It is realy hard this time to be just in time here, when CERN is releasing new work. It's a 'fulltime-job'! (LOL)
Otherwise 'things' seem to go right now with the executable (4.67), only I noted some strange behaviour after using (testing) the screensaver, not so the 'show graphic', this option works correct.

noch einen schönen Tag

[EDIT]I just saw: Win-Update DL,after this update I have to restart the box,- oh dear.... (finger crossed)
(I know that from another box which previously updated)

I was lucky, I got 5 work units for all of my systems.

We keep running them dry too fast.

If I could get one WU from CPDN for each processor I would not worry about running out of work ... alas this is not the case ...

Yes, thats what I do Paul, I always have 2 CPDN WU's on each Computer of mine because their all HT Capable. If I absolutely can't get any work from the Projects I prefer to run then I just run the CPDN WU's for awhile ... :)

first, they cant wait to detach/reset the project,
now they are asking for work..

basically the wish for more work could never be wrong

//smile on
Why don't you take an 4.64 application based WU and keep attached to other projects and let the client pause/preemt a lot?

So you are nearly sure, to crunch always the same WU over time and the q for work passed.

At Seti@classic, generations of cruncher are doing that.

This is just a naked technical reflection to overcome the no work, it might not have a big audience
//smile off

and ALEX, please! how can you!

LB:
what shall we do with the lhc alpha work?
They still deliver work..

@ ric
I'll crunch them (they are all 4.66!) when I get empty here. At the moment I have problems to correct the CPID, since attaching at alpha it has changed and my overall stats has difficulties ......

I agree with your post.

Ok, how do you get 2 CPDN WU without having all the other projects give you more work than you can handle?

Set the resource share for CPDN so that it is more than half of the total if you have 2 CPUS and more than 3/4 if you have 4 CPUs.

Ok, how do you get 2 CPDN WU without having all the other projects give you more work than you can handle?

is this not written in your wonderfull boinc related collection of knowledge base??

Paul did you tried this:

go to cpdn.preferences and increase (much) your resource shares for cpdn.

Update the project cpdn. Normaly now an additional WU type cpdn should found the way to the client.

After that, return to cpdn and adjust/reduce the shares to a "well balaced" value

no cpdn wu came over (and everything at cpdn "server" side is ok)
redo it with higher shares.

The "problem" that I have is, even with a small cpdn share of resulting 0.5%,
the HT client receives 2 WUs from there, but I want only 1 cpdn wu, without the settings "use only 1 cpu".

friendly ric

edit:
it looks like 2 people where giving answer at the same time;)
and not all time the case, both anwsers pointing the same way..

good luck

=========

Yes, do what either Ric or John suggested, just slowly increase your Resource Share for CPDN until they give you some work, then once you have it back off the Share for CPDN again to where it was ...

Last WU i get:
16.4.2005 16:06 (1WU) :-)

but from 14:55 to 15:07, there was more aviable work. that's the same time like you :-)

And at 15.4.2005 i got WU from 9:42 - to 10:02 and two units at 11:30 :-)

Bluumi, i think you was lucky that your PC try at the right time. The work is some time very hot-burned :-)

At one pc i get 8 WU with s18 and s16 in one flush.. this was crunched faster than i can read a sheet in a book :-)
So, i go to to sleep :-)

Happy crunching to you all :-)

Sorry, that's not in my control. All I can do is submit old workunits but there is no much sense in that...

One of our physicists will be returning from vacation on Wednesday. So maybe we get new work during end of this week or next week, but I can't promise anything.
