Three workunits finished, but failed to report
or show up in the console window as having finished
computing.

,/boinc_4.19_i686-pc-linux-gnu -update_prefs
cleared away the finished work and got new work.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

This is by design. The returning of work is split into two parts. The result is uploaded to the data server then the work is reported to the scheduling server. The client will report work in 3 cases. 1) More work is needed. 2) The deadline for completed work is less than 24 hours away. 3) You do it manually with the update_prefs switch or the update command in the GUI.

All previous work on the Linux machine went through the steps
automatically.

This is why I'm asking.
