I've noticed over the last few days since the shorter sixtrack WUs have appeared that BOINC v4.19 has not been choosing the oldest WUs to crunch next. It's choosing what seems to be an arbitrary WU to start at and works several in order from oldest to youngest, then chooses another place to start and proceeds again. This behavior seems to be encouraged by running multiple projects as well (i.e., when climate prediction has had its allocated time to run and pauses again to run LHC). Is this a known bug or something that's been fixed in the 4.2x branch? ![]() |

I haven't noticed that Travis with v4.19, maybe if you go under the Work Tab and Click on the Report Deadline Tab to bring the WU's that are being worked on as near to the Top as possible then see what happens. Generally when I do this the next WU's to be worked on will be at the top of the page and in the order of the Deadline they are assigned ... :) |

For what it is worth, as best as I can tell, it is a random pick. Worse, it sometimes will have several started instead of choosing one that has already been started. |

I don't know Paul, I just checked all my Computers & every one of them is Crunching on the WU's with the closest Deadline. It may not be the next WU in line but since there are many with the same Deadline Time then it is random among the closest Deadline Time one's I guess ... :) |

Worse, it > sometimes will have several started instead of choosing one that has already > been started. ...maybe - though I'm not really worried about it since BOINC never d/ls more than 2 days worth of WUs and my PC is fast enough to crunch all of them before they expire. But it concerns me if other people have this problem and especially for people who have slower PCs. PoorBoy - I leave boinc displaying WUs by deadline (so climateprediction is always on top since it expires in 2006)- however leaving the display sorted as such doesn't affect WU workorder. It remains random. ![]() |
