I detached from LHC over the 'down' period, and re-attached today. As a result I now have my PCs listed twice, but I can't merge them. The Merge function doesn't even list them as appropriate. As a test I detached one PC today and re-attached it, and successfully merged it with its recent self, but I can't get it to merge with its older ID The PCs haven't changed significantly over the period - no major OS changes, processor changes, configuration or name changes, so they should be the same as far as BOINC is concerned. Any ideas? Gaspode the UnDressed http://www.littlevale.co.uk |

Mike, I am sorry to hear about your re-attachment problems. I stayed connected through the down period, however, today I had to detach and reattach. I also had to merge the one computer that I detched and reattached, however, it worked as it should have for me. I don't know if the extended detachment period has something to do with it or not. Good point. I had forgotten about that issue. Jim > > But the Core Client(to at least 4.19) has changed. Now the CPU-Identification > should be correct! > (It isn't possible to merge 'Intel' with 'GenuineIntel'!) > > Greetz from Switzerland > littleBouncer > > > |

I believe this is due to change in the way the core client reports CPU models. For example, one version of CC might report a process model as "GenuineIntel, Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.53GHz" while another version says it's an "Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.53GHz, Pentium". Or maybe it's because of XP service pack update - I'm not sure. Markku Degerholm LHC@home admin |

>>It is the CC change; we had this issue 3 weeks ago at PAH/EAH! Any idea whether some sort of fix is in the offing? Not that it matters greatly - the lengthy down time means that LHC 2005 is essentially a different project from LHC 2004. I'm no longer attached to SAH, PAH or CPDN - just LHC and Einstein. Appears to be option A (using an AMD example): AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+ Pentium Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition, Service Pack 2, (05.01.2600.00) and AuthenticAMD AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+ Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition, Service Pack 2, (05.01.2600.00) are the same computer and had same OpSys. - da shu @ HeliOS, "Free software” is a matter of liberty, not price. Is there a good reason why we're not allowed to merge the hosts because of these microscopic differences? It's not a big deal, but it annoys me a little that all the new credit is going to be listed under another host while it's really the same one. <br /> <img src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/one/stats.php?userID=31&prj=5"> |

Same prob ++++++ 1) Can't merge these two like all the other posts on this page. http://lhcathome.cern.ch/hosts_user.php 2) I started back today and got 2 new computers showing for same computer; I have already merged 22216 into 22220 though. ----------------------- Click to see my tag My tag SNAFU'ed? If it's the same computer, just delete the old host if you can. You'll keep your current cobblestones. I've done this on a couple projects now, and nothing has gone wrong. |

hmmm, well I still have the credit, but I'm starting from zero, still. Nice to have just the one showing though. Thanks. ----------------------- Click to see my tag My tag SNAFU'ed? Turn the Page! :D |

I couldn't merge my computer's either. So I just deleted the old host, and still did keep my old credits. <img border="0" src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/one/stats.php?userID=530" /> |

Hi All, I have been unable to merge computers also, and I have noticed that it is a problem that I had on Seti also, I upgraded to XP SP2 and now the computers are titled different. I can't delet those that have no crdit yet, because they are the ones actually doing WU's presently. The others showing up on the page was before my upgrade and before the project went down.
