It would be nice to know if our previous LHC account Keys were still valid. I haven't detached since it went down last fall. So, I'm using the same key. tony |

Only reattach worked, now it is crunching the next packet (4) of WU's...:-) (predicted time after 10 min.(4%):4.10 hours) On the HT-Box it seems to work right (no particles are leaving the run at the moment there!) well i got this "[LHC@home] Message from server: You may have an outdated code verification key. This may prevent you from accepting new executables. If the problem persists, detach/attach the project." So I did what it said... I detached and now I cannot reattach... anyone have any ideas? Nevermind... I just tried after waiting a bit and it is downloading work... |

> 2/21/2005 12:47:14 PM|LHC@home|New code signing key doesn't validate This is because there was some mistake in signing of the new sign keys. I can't do anything here from Finland because the keys can only be accessed in CERN. But tomorrow, at latest, somebody in our team should be able to do the signing properly and you get the proof of authenticity you deserve. You should be now able to get the new binaries by resetting the project, but I suggest you to wait... Markku Degerholm LHC@home admin |

i did get some work units, after an update and a detach/attach. now i get this message: No work available (daily quota exceeded) i donate cpu time to this project, do you want this cpu time? or not? i can understand a database overload or other problems. in no way i understand a daily quotum. bas ![]() |

> i can understand a database overload or other problems. in no way i understand > a daily quotum. > > bas > Hi, I might be able to explain it (or atleast as I understand it). Some host have screwed up and ended up in a loop. THis loop kept requesting downloads, and getting them. Many users were unaware of the failure and would end up with hundreds of wu's that they couldn't possibly finish. I also believe it has to do with limiting a users connection to their limited bandwidth, atleast until the initial rush is over. I know this doesn't get you work, but I hope you don't get to frustrated. hope this helped. Tony regular ole cruncher like you Formerly mmciastro. > i did get some work units, after an update and a detach/attach. now i get this > message: > > No work available (daily quota exceeded) LHC@Home only allows a certain amount of work to be sent to a user in a 24-hour period. You'll get the same error if your network preferences are set too high and if BOINC downloads a certain amount of work. It's supposed to protect the project and allow fair use of WUs by its clients. Your client must have had a problem with the new key system (from reading the forum several have experienced this problem) and downloaded as many WUs as it could and every WU failed to authenticate as it was downloading so your BOINC disregarded them and removed them from your work queue. Read the news on the homepage for an explanation on this. The same thing happened to me but I stopped BOINC after it trashed a few WUs and ~10 WUs were successfully downloaded and have since started to run. I also had tremdous problems with BOINC versions 4.20-4.22 and wouldn't recommend a 4.2x/4.6x client until Berkeley puts out a stable release. Get 4.19 here. If your problems continue after downgrading (as mine did) you may have to reset LHC@Home OR (in my case when that failed to work and as a last resort) manually kill BOINC, delete the BOINC folder in Program Files then reinstall and reattach again. Happy Crunching! ![]() |

In regard to the last post, see this other thread for why 4.2x clients were failing. :) |

Resetting with 4.19 did not work but when I detached and then attached with my old number it seemed to work, though I have not yet started to actually crunch a unit. ![]() ![]() |

> > > > No work available (daily quota exceeded) thanks to mmciastro and Travis DJ for your reply. i do work with version 4.19. this resolved the problem of getting wu's, i first had an older version. i do get work every day, not to much though. my computers can handle this. so my demand is not to high. my connection is broadband, the kind which should be sufficient. now i have wu's to keep my systems busy, this was not so when i wrote my first message. but still i get the daily quota message every day. "fair use of WUs by its clients" i don't see what you mean with this. should i think that in a way it could become possible that every person on the planet with a computer does one wu? i know i go extreem but if there is some sort of fair use policy then the stats/credit system is useless, so why go on with it? btw, i am not frustrated, i keep crunching. i do think though that almost every boinc project should give much more information to it's donators. that's us. friendly greetings, bas ![]() |

> > > > > > > No work available (daily quota exceeded) > > thanks to mmciastro and Travis DJ for your reply. I like/love to help, Your welcome I think they're wrestling with trying to decide what to do. Initially it was 10 for the previously mentioned reasons. Then MANY regulars (you, me, others, Many others) complained about not having work because of the Quota. They changed the Quota to 30 and within a couple hours they ran out of WUs. They just can't win. Now, I hear chat about lowering the Quota, so a higher quantity of people can have Some WU to crunch. I have the Solution..... Make a Boatload more WUs. Looking at the main screen, they seem to have done just that, but I've seen no comment about that happening. Then again, I'm here for them, not them for me. So, they'll always choose to do what's best for them, and We'll have to decide what we will do. Congratulations on finally getting work. tony [edit]here's the current numbers from the front page Up, 25267 workunits to crunch 51 concurrent connections [edit] Formerly mmciastro.
