Sigh, the LHC Site for all practical intent & purposes is down period, I don't care what the Main Page says. There is no Work being given out right now, or if there is it is very minuscule at best. The last WU I recieved was 11 days ago so we are all in the same boat as far as getting WU's goes...

Your going to get all kinds of weird messages while this is going on until they come back up and actually have some work to give out. Just run 1 of the other Projects and set your Preferences to 50/50 and when there is Work availabe from LHC you will get some...

There is probably a solution for the can't open logfile error:

I Installed BOINC on my System at home and all worked fine. Then i set my apache to run as wwwrun/www instead of nobody and this error occured. Just a little Mental impetus ;)

I hope they can get the server up again before December 9th, since on November 26th one of my machines received 16 WUs. Four of them made it back before things went down and are now pending. The other 12 have been done and are waiting to come home as soon as the server is back up.
BTW with the 5 WUs that I have pending the credit will give me enough to hit the 10,000 mark.

Actually unless Steve Detachs or resets the Project the WU's are not going to go anywhere until the server comes back up & then he should be able to send them back in...

other boinc project but:
m$ clients (GUI 4.09/4.13) tried a couple of time to upload the work, finaly the have given up and DELETED the work.

It looks like the 4.53 client (last public) can handle better this issue

@steve
contratz for your 10K!

And here another Mental impetus for the can't open logfile error:

After having the same error with my own BOINC-Server i changed the permissions for the Server-log-directories so that the webserver and root(user who starts BOINC respectivly) can read/write the dirs(you may have more then one).

After deatach from project:

2004-12-02 16:27:53 - Detaching from project
2004-12-02 16:28:10 - Project prefs: no separate prefs for work; using your defaults
2004-12-02 16:28:11 - Insufficient work; requesting more
2004-12-02 16:28:13 - Master file fetch failed

In this point form with next text:
===========================================================
BOINC couldn't get main page for http://lhcathome.cern.ch.
Plaease check the URL and try again.
===========================================================
2004-12-02 16:31:52 - Resetting project
2004-12-02 16:31:52 - Detaching from project

On main page:
=============
Server Status
Up, low on work

Was happend with BOINC?

LHC - Down

Predictor - Down
11/17/04
Work on the server is advancing very well and we think (no promises) that we might have predictor up and running again by the end of the week :-) Keep you updated

ClimatePrediction - 700 h ( on Barton +2500 in 30% = 100 day ) for me is too big period withot preinstallation on Windows ;o))

Just to be certain, folks, the "Server can't open log file" is NOT a BOINC client error. Just leave your client installations alone....don't force updates, don't detach, don't do anything. Just let BOINC manage the account and you'll eventually get some work if/as/when Markku and Co. fix the issues on their side.

Till then, worry not. :)

sometimes it is hard to wait, espacially if you do not know what for you are waiting. there is a large result from a "tunescan" waiting on one of my machines. it has blocked this machine from other work for maybe five days. is it possible,
that this work was done to be trash?

read you

This is way too freaky! Or another example of great minds thinking alike. LOL

Now that I got a tunescan and a proeleven - servers are not feeding properly.

Hope it gets fixed soon.
