>" @JAHMAGIC > how long will the Tunescana need, (time) til finished?" I have only done 3 tunescana's so far and the one on my P4 2.5 was around 8 or 9hrs and the ones on this AMD 3200 were around 5.5hrs as I recall.......I posted the time on this board the other day some where so I better check to see exactly how long it took on my fastest machine. Ok I just found it...... an 8:34:26 tunescana finished off as a 5:33:09 on the AMD 3200 Ok goodnight Ric............ |

GN. here is past 1 oclock afternoon and I'm out now for work, just finished lunch;-) AND tks for nice job! It was hard to get. |

Well Ric,I just finished the units I d/l here 12hrs ago and just now u/l them and recieved 7 "protwelves" and a "prosix" and 2 "proeight" and 2 "pronine" and 3 "proeleven" and to finish the d/l I got another tunescan with the est. time of 8:49:30 so since I am running it on the AMD 3200 again it will most likely be finished in the area of 5.5hrs once again. And of course I will be checking I am also running the original version of SETI on this one at the same time which slows them down from 2.5hrs to around 6hrs. Since it isn't easy to d/l LHC on my other 3 pc's I am just running SETI on those for now. (the fun of a dialup ISP) (just finished that tunescan with the est.time of 8:49:30 in 3:27:53 this time so they seem to be different every time. And I just d/l another tunescan to test.) *Samson Ben Yoseph* |

> I work BOINC on 3 computers and set a one: > 20% SETI / 80% LHC > Today at 18:30 UTC, Boinc get 25 WU! > !WOW! > 19:00 next 18 WU... > I set General preferences to 3 days ... LOL > > Stat LHC to all computers! > Welcome on board! The day will come woth more work for all. Every part running well? best setting will bee the shortest/fastest, about 0.1-0.5 ;) At leat U have work to keep the CPUs warm, in the last past day had "short" running Tunes too. They give bad/less credit :-( if they are validated and granted in term of the experiment/simulation. It could be, a work, a simualtion is running out of specifications/parameters given, so it's better to "terminate" this run, this simulation to review the data input given by the scientific. @PoorBoy a sad new 4 you. Your babies are to fast. Due I still have very old, not so old and less old ones (fastest 3.2 Prescott), was grabbing a bit on the results level. There is something very interesting to observe: to extrem fasts CPU ( 2.8 3.0 or AMD 64 (hehe)) are getting less than estimated. to slow cpus (700 MHz 600 MHz 500MHz, especially 233 MHZ or even slower are getting less than estimated. And now the winner class is: AMD 1400 / 1600, P3 1800 around this. YES this old, but not to old and not to fast generation, is reveiving/having the best ration per WU!!. Most of the time those *I* verified, the estimated is added by 25 % or some much more. Amazing! Some hardcopies are taken to document. Don't believe it? Understanding. Sitting here, try to take a close look, viewing the information, I would like to let it open if the fastest is finaly the best.... 2 x 1400 give more back than 1 GHz. Run time tunescanAB AMD 1400/intel 1800 11-13 hours, 2 systems = 4 WUs per day 3.xx GHz with HT 10-14 Hours, 2 at one time, = 4 per day yes the ring is belling loud and clear Please take the time and verify yourself!! *evil grins* @Sam, indirectly U gave me the answer to what I wanted to ask. You don't have a 486 or Pentium 75 MHz and it looks like you don't let run LHC with 10% or less. The validator is waiting... ric good night! |

@PoorBoy a sad new 4 you. Your babies are to fast. ========= D'oh....hehe And they have very hungry mouths to feed too, their belly's never seem to be full ... ;) My fastest P4 will run a little over 5 per day of the TunescanAB in HT Mode if it is a normal run one ... It's a Liquid Cooled 3.4 @ 3.763Ghz, I could go higher but it runs real stable at that speed so I don't mess with it. I've had it as high as 4.00 Ghz but I really don't think it would be stable enough to run the Projects at that speed ... I think the Well has about run dry, I haven't been able to pick up any New Wu's all day ... :( Oh well the team members over at Seti are glad to have me back there running Seti with them again anyway ... :) |

(just thought I would keep your thread going PoorBoy) Have you had any work d/l luck here in the last few hours? All I got was a tunescana on this one and then I switched over to one of my P4's and wasn't getting anything.......and just now this one wanted to connect and send in a seti wu so I switched back over to my master computer to take care of that and see if I can get any LHC work. *Magic* |

> Nope, haven't got any new Wu's for over a day now ... from the logs, yesterday friday evening got the last: v64tunescana-53s6_8615_1_sixvf_11844_10 21.11.2004 runlength: 12:00:21 p 3.0 HT mode finished this morning at 8:53, ul rRep done slowly going down, but still credits Pending credit: 2697.75 in theory there must be still work to redo or to validate ric 4.00 Ghz/3.763Ghz Cool! I wish I had one... |

Yes, I still have 2536 pending credits, so somebody must still have some Wu's or the validator hasn't caught up yet, or there still is more Wu's to be sent out yet. I really haven't been trying to get any more from LHC, pretty much just running Seti until LHC comes up again with more work, if I get sent some they'll get crunched but I'm not worried about it. |

Well I don't have as much Pending credit as that PoorBoy but I did d/l lots of LHC work last 12hrs ago but my system completed all of them so I came back on a couple hours ago to see what I could get and just got the tunescana. I'm not worried about it either.......but then it is nice to give these machines something to munch on besides seti (and all the regular stuff) I have d/l quite a bit when the server said "no work" so I never go by that. I just finished some boring and slow microsoft work.....so it is break time I suppose. (4:30am here) Back to it.......... *Magic* |

I have d/l quite a bit when the server said "no work" so I never go by that. ========== Yes, thats how I get a lot of my work, I don't pay much attention to what the server tells me anymore at any of the Sites, if I want work I go get it no matter what the servers telling me. I almost have to do that because all my Computers are P4 HT except 1 and I intend to rectify that this or next week as soon as I can get my hands on another P4 3.4 CPU at a reasonable price. The P4 HT CPU's can go threw a lot of work in short order especially at a Site like this where a lot of the WU's are short run ones. When you throw in all the short run Wu's you get then 100 WU's per day on each one of them is nothing, so if I don't keep trying to get the work I'd never have any to do...The TunescanAB Wu's are my only hope to build up a little supply of WU's, if I can get a few of them on each PC then I'm ok for awhile at least... But it's getting to the point now it's not worth it anymore to try and force some work out of the server because you can spend and hour trying and get nothing, it's time to let it go until there really is some more work when it gets that bad I figure. |

mission still not ended. just received a tunescan, estimated runtime, 7:45 on a amd 2400 Me too, let the client "play", every client is attached to 3 or more projects. The best way might be, to believe whats written there and to believe whats NOT written there, this gives 100% of informations... Some of the clients changed to CC 4.08 (seti) and they are still alive.;-) |

Oh yes I agree with that PoorBoy! Time just flys if you try over and over to get just a little LHC work right now and even though seti is famous for server problems I still run it 24/7 (original seti)in fact my other pc next to me just finished a seti and is asking me to let it send/recieve. Have you ever checked out this site? http://www.tigerdirect.com/ Pretty good deals and I have purchased a few from them over the years. They have everything. Goodnight........Shabbat Shalom............ *Magic* |

mission still not ended. just received a tunescan, ========== Your a real Smuck ... ;) Hurry up and finish it, maybe I'll get some more Credit as I still have a lot of outstanding Tunescan Wu's pending ... :) |

Have you ever checked out this site? http://www.tigerdirect.com/ ========= Yes, I was there last night in fact trying to find a P4 3.4 Northwood CPU. It seems since Intel has come out with the new P4 3.6 on the 775 Platform the supply of P4 3.4 Northwoods has dried up. If you can find a site with one they want an arm and a leg to buy it. I put in a e-mail request if this one site gets any in to e-mail me, at least their prices where in line with what I paid a few weeks ago for a couple pf 3.4 Northwoods. I can get the 3.4 Prescott still fairly cheap but I want the Northwood because it runs cooler. But If I have to I'll go with the Prescott I guess if I can't pick up a Northwood in the next week or so... |

> > Your a real Smuck ... ;) Might U right. It's a good feeling *grins* > Hurry up and finish it, maybe I'll get some more Credit as I still have a lot > of outstanding Tunescan Wu's pending ... :) nono, the cpu will take to do propper good work to get a good validation (hehe) In the opposit, perhaps DOWNCLOCKING the node to optimize work/Credit-Returning ranking.. @magic you will see, as more time elapsed, it's a bit like a local blizzard/thunder-storm, going from one project to the other, this must be called destiny . |

I just checked my Pc's again & nothing, 0, nada, zip, zilch, on any of them from LHC ... I checked out Tiger Direct again JAHMAGIC & all they have is the 3.4 Prescott, I may just go with that instead of diddling around for a week or 2 trying to get a Northwood. I always use a aftermarket Cooler on the CPU anyway so heat shouldn't really be an issue. It would be interesting to see if the extra L2 Cache the Prescott has is of any benefit when running The Projects anyway ... PS: WoW, this thread has a life of it's own, it's like the Energizer Bunny & just keeps going & going & going & going & going ..... hehe |
