What is LHC@home?

This a volunteer computing project that uses Internet-connected computers to advance Particle and Accelerator Physics. Participate by downloading and running a free program on your computer. By default, you can run the classic LHC@home application Sixtrack, for simulations of accelerator physics, and help researchers at CERN to improve the LHC.

Other LHC@home simulations that utilizes virtualization to run applications for Theory and experiment simulations for ATLAS, CMS and LHCb are also available.

2021 BOINC Workshop
Videos of the talks from the 2021 BOINC Workshop are now available on YouTube. Day 01 includes a talk giving an overview of LHC@home and Day 02 has another talk which provides more details on the specific technology we use. There are many other interesting talks from the other BOINC projects and from the BOINC developers.

Database issues
Our database cluster is heavily loaded today, and LHC@home services time out from time to time. Our DBA is trying to fix this. Sorry for the trouble and happy crunching.

Downtime Wed 20/1
LHC@home servers will be down for a database upgrade tomorrow Wednesday 20th of January early afternoon GMT.

Possible upload delays Wednesday 14/10
Due to an upgrade of our Ceph storage on Wednesday 14th of October, there might be delays to file uploads and data assimilation. Should be back to normal by Wednesday evening.
