Yep, that fixed it.

Completed Theory jobs, Theory_2017_01_19.vdi has been deleted from folder.
Theory_2017_04_20.vdi remains.

It looks like every time I get a job, BOINC client re-fetches Theory_2017_01_19.vdi as well. I've downloaded it 12 times in the last 20 days.
I wonder if there's a config error somewhere that causes this? I'm not bothered but it must be quite a bandwidth load at the server end if its happening to everyone.
I'm running a mix of all the sub-projects, so I dont usually have a queue of Theory work in my client.

Either April All Fool's Day has come late this year, or the start of the 2017 LHC run has opened the promised Dread Portal of Doom I dont know, but Strange Things are happening.
Every time I start a new Theory task, I have to download the entire VDI files again

14/05/2017 18:01:35 | LHC@home | Started download of Theory_2017_04_20.vdi
14/05/2017 18:01:35 | LHC@home | Started download of Theory_2017_01_19.vdi
14/05/2017 18:03:04 | LHC@home | Finished download of Theory_2017_04_20.vdi
14/05/2017 18:03:37 | LHC@home | Finished download of Theory_2017_01_19.vdi

and Crystal Pellet reports that his Atlas tasks are actually running an entirely different project!

[edit]Just got another job, and
14/05/2017 18:54:27 | LHC@home | Started download of Theory_2017_01_19.vdi
another VDI file. [/edit]

If a user runs a sub-project job that runs the VM correctly, but CONDOR fails to find and run a single job, that is recorded by BOINC as an error.
This is wrong as far as the user and BOINC is concerned - the user has run the VM correctly and it was not his fault that no work for CERN was completed.
If these jobs were recorded as a success rather than an error they would show on the statistics pages as the true current status of the sub-project and BOINC users could see which sub-projects to support.

Post:
I have been running all of the Cern tasks since they first started and run them all at the same time on Win7 and one Win8.1

I don't have this problem with Win7 and even run them all on my laptop with only 8GB ram and a SSD (vLHC X2,CMS-dev,and LHC X3,Atlas X2 along with a Einstein GPU) on this 8-core.

The only one that was having this problem for me is the Win8.1

It has plenty of disk space and 18GB ram so that isn't the problem.

Yes and as Richard says, its one of those unexpected bugs.

So what I started doing is when I have a CMS-dev and vLHC X2 running and I want to add the Atlas
.....then *resume that vLHC X2 and THEN they all are running together again without getting the Disk Limit Error.

Of course I am sure most crunchers would rather not have to do this and expect it to just work by itself......

And to be fair, CMS-dev is in its early stages of testing and needs a little debugging or at least nursemaiding.
Personally I think the BOINC team are doing very well to get all these new ideas working.

Looks like the BOINC Server loadav has risen quite a lot in the last few hours!
I notice too that a large number of wzero jobs I have seem to have been aborted by other volunteers, I hope it doesnt mess up the tests.

Apropos of nothing really, I had a bunch of LHC and SETI stop with this error yesterday, but I was running my first CMS-dev job which had also crashed...

Ah good to hear 1 of them replied! :)

One of us)

We're all one team.
SO I urge everyone to check their error and invalid and inconclusive tasks on regular basis to see any kind of irregularities so it could be fixed asap.

Yea but problems are:

  • Only a certain percentage ever come on here to read the boards, or even see the news headline on the front page.
  • Some people will have changed email addresses and wont recieve messages
  • Some people install BOINC without the manager and dont even see whats happening any more.

I could not renew the suspension, and I tried. I
have to wait until current suspension, which does not
appear to be effective, expires. Eric.

I dont know the BOINC Server nomenclature, but it seems you have banned hin from using the forums rather than from doing more tasks, as shown here.
The mechanism that shows on that page allows the server to restrict (right down to 1job/day) a host until it starts returning useful results. Sorry I dont know the full details, hope someone else can help.

[edit]I recall theres a flag called reliable host that might help[/edit]

Thanks; this host is/was on my list. Eric.

Here's another host 10137504 to ban.
Look at this task. I think that validation is not correct. may be resend all validated WU from banned hosts???

Why banished host 9996388 gets the new WU?

Please contact Einstein@Home. If the host sends many wrong WU, then it gets a limit on the new WU.

I think you are banished from revealing your ID or poating to message boards is different from you are banished from running this computer on this project?
