Post: I've uploaded and returned 25 results (2 days of work) during yesterday's server failure (or whatever that was)and now they don't appear in my results page... are they all lost forever?! :,((( I've only realized there was something wrong with lhc when I returned the results and my team was gone... |

Actually I've read all that in the forums, but during conversations of others topics, not on a separate topic about this matter. And, for the record, I'm not suggesting to put on the front page 'in xx days there will more work'. And there are many more people that read the front page, than those who read the message boards. |

Post: I just want to give my humble suggestion to stop this nonsense of having lots of people always asking in the forums when new work will be available and complaining about that: The administrators could simply write in the front page of the project: 'LHC@home only has work every now and then, not 24\\7 like other projects, this happens because... (a short explanation, maybe with a link to a larger explanation, will be here)' Maybe then people will stop complaining that they are mislead to crunch for this project. |

Post: I've recently found a very interesting about using BOINC in public services: one of the users of BOINC, the only portuguese listed in the Top 100 multi-project BOINC participants is called 'esenviseu', the name intrigued me because 'viseu' is the name of a city in the interior of Portugal, so I went to google and found out that they are a high school! Good to hear that at least a public service here in Portugal is taking advantage of a lost of idle computer time. |

Post: I my University (FEUP), they had plans to implement Grid Computing throughout the whole campus during 2005. But I haven't seen anything through the whole year, maybe they had problems of some sort. Maybe sometime I will go down there I ask the informatic services why wasn't it implemented, I just know there are about 600 P4 2,8 gHz and another 600 PIII 1 ghZ almost 24/7 turned on and most of the time they're idle. That's a waste of crunching power. |
