With that in mind I tried setting up 'school' preferences asking for 1 core, 1 task, Sixtrack only and have tried manually updating for an hour on my old Dell laptop and can't secure even a single WU.

Was hoping that a new Data directory for Sixtrack only requests could solve the issue but this experiment would had to work,

Back last June, we were in a similar situation, and the feeder and scheduler parameters were re-tuned, increasing the scheduler shared memory buffer and feeder query size; the SixTrack priority was increased as well, to avoid that the scheduler buffer runs out of SixTrack tasks. The feeder and scheduler parameters cannot be tune-up further, as they are already at the limit of the server capabilities. On the other hand, we will warn the users to be more cautious in submitting new work.

Why are you the only one having this problem with LHC and other projects?

Sounds like there's something weird with your system, and you're just using a bandaid.....

Due to recent attacks on the Predictor@Home forums by a small group of malicious hackers we have enabled some restrictions in the forums. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause our volunteers. As so often is the case a few bad apples can spoil the lot and their behavior has forced us to enforce policies we would prefer not to. The accounts used by the attackers have been deleted. If someone has installed the boinc client on machines that they do not have permission to that is wrong. I have no way of knowing if this has or hasn't happened. Just because "some guy" posted something on the internet is not good enough reason to take any action against anyone.

But it's ok!

It's not like it'll matter anyway when the LHC comes online and creates a negatively charged metastable strangelet and reduces the earth to a clump of strange matter roughly the size of a basketball court.

I just noticed that only ONE work unit was reported in the last several hours. The remaining 138 WUs are still somewhere "out there" ...Feh! I say send them out again!! What the hey?

I suppose I'm gonna get flamed now... ah well, that's the bugger of starting a lame thread.

Was looking through my results when I came across this result . I just don't know how people can live with themselves especially when they so blatantly try to cheat like this person. My claim was 27.92 and his digusting claim is 121.85 There is no way you can say that a claim that is more than 4x what it should be is a mistake. I bet this person also cheats at solitaire. And if you want to be disgusted even further look at that persons other results.

Open the file "sched_reply_lhcathome.cern.ch.xml" on your BOINC directory and see if it has "<host_total_credit>" tag there. Also check if all tags are on separate lines.

There is a problem on LHC server, a new host entry is generated each time you contact server. Problem discussed here and here (there are probably other threads asking the same question, didn't look for all of them).
