Multiple instances of my computer...
(Message 15227)
Posted 29 Oct 2006 by Fuzzy Hollynoodles Post: Good 2cu again :) Hi River~~! Yes, long time no see. :-) I'm mostly at AstroPulse/Beta at the moment. River~~, I had three full pages of computers! First, I went to the bottom of the page and clicked "select all", and then merge, and I did this three times before I ended up with my one and real computer! There were many! I don't know how many because when I saw that long list of ghost computers, I went imidiatly to the merge page. And as said, I clicked "select all" three times! Yes, it's the time of the year when you don't want to buy on ebay! |

Multiple instances of my computer...
(Message 15219)
Posted 29 Oct 2006 by Fuzzy Hollynoodles Post: Tonight when I saw that I had got a LHC WU, lo and behold, I went to check up on my account page, just to check out things, as I haven't crunched LHC for a long time. Then I noticed that my computer had spawned itself to multiple instances, so I had to merge three times before I got back to my one and only computer. I also noticed that I had failed downloading some WU's the other day, which I never noticed that day, so maybe all the failed downloads have created a new computer each time? So please check your computers and see if yours have been spawned also. |

@Admin: Release optimised Clients?
(Message 12531)
Posted 28 Jan 2006 by Fuzzy Hollynoodles Post: Ok I re-read this thread and as i know, LHC is already "optimized"; I was just curious if an optimized BOINC client would give less accurate LHC results. It seems as if this is so. Sorry, I should have read this thread more carefully. I don't know if I understand you correct, do you think an optimized Seti client will corrupt your LHC results? I don't have the optimized client but I have the optimized science application installed, so when I start my BOINC manager, the log starts with these lines: 1/27/2006 10:10:22 AM||Starting BOINC client version 5.3.2 for windows_intelx86 1/27/2006 10:10:22 AM||libcurl/7.14.0 OpenSSL/0.9.8 zlib/1.2.3 1/27/2006 10:10:22 AM||Data directory: C:\\Programmer\\BOINC 1/27/2006 10:10:22 AM|SETI@home|Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform 1/27/2006 10:10:22 AM||Processor: 1 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz 1/27/2006 10:10:22 AM||Memory: 503.36 MB physical, 1.20 GB virtual 1/27/2006 10:10:22 AM||Disk: 37.25 GB total, 23.61 GB free What this means is that when I crunch Seti WU's, it uses Crunch3rs client, and when I crunch other WU's, it uses my "normal" BOINC client, and my returned results are totally kosher in the other projects. |

LHC still requires Boinc 4.45?
(Message 12495)
Posted 27 Jan 2006 by Fuzzy Hollynoodles Post:
I don't know if I crunch with the latest BOINC version, but I crunch with 5.3.2 with no errors at all, neither here or in Rosetta, which can be quite tricky also. |

(Message 11949)
Posted 14 Jan 2006 by Fuzzy Hollynoodles Post: Sadly, those of us that detached to limit log growth cannot attach and sit in the pending queue ... I agree with you River~~, when you know it's a question of time, then let the log grow. Or you can exit BOINC and open it again from time to time. Then the log is cleared. |

Posted 14 Jan 2006 by Fuzzy Hollynoodles Post: Michael is quite correct: the work is generated by accelerator engineers who don't always warn the admins (or the LHC@home coordinator) what/when they are about to submit. And Happy New Year to you too. :-) Yes, we're all waiting anxiously for the new WU's. |

Average turnaround time
(Message 11171)
Posted 2 Nov 2005 by Fuzzy Hollynoodles Post: 887,86 years ??!!?? Aren't we all? I think he was a close relative to Adam and Eve, so we all must be descendants, and with that relatives to him! ;-) It's just a kind of funny, as I should be one of the WU hoarders with my turnaround time on about 888 years, and a download of 100 WU's per day! What a cache that would be! But I don't have any LHC WU's right now and returned my last one several days ago! ;-) EDIT: And BTW, that should be 887.86 years! Where I live, we use the comma as the decimal point, so I copy - pasted from the calculator! So "only" about 888 years, not 887,860 years! |
