To be clear, I am *not* asking for credits to be increased in this thread. That is a separate discussion, and I don't want this discussion to get derailed.

I am asking about the method for awarding credits. With a quorum of 2, there are two "normal" methods that projects use: 1) Awarding the lesser of the two claimed amounts. 2) The average of the two claimed amounts.

I am asking to change from #1 to #2.

Thanks!

The current method is lesser of two claimed amounts.

Can this please be changed to average of the two?

Yes, I understand that can lead to slight abuse by a few. But I feel that is better than short-changing by so much, many of the volunteers who are frequently being under-awarded.

This is happening to me all over the place. Hundreds of hours of wasted crunching time. This needs to be addressed by the project immediately.

Every boinc project using unmodified pages lists the url in this spot. It is a in the default boinc code to do so. It is evne in bold type

Wow. I must be blind. Or maybe I have looked at this format for so many years, I just don't see it any more. In either case, thanks. I have my answer now. Thanks.

You should always use the one listed on the front page of the project, this or any other project. This is the one the the project will support. Other urls may forward, but at some time they will dissapear.

I don't think this has been answered yet.

Which one on the front page? I see no URL listed. And the URL in my address bare is this one:

http://boinc01.cern.ch/sixtrack/index.php

So is that the correct one?

If the project really does want tasks returned and validated as fast as possible, it's time to increase or remove the daily limit of 10/thread.
The Admins will probably give the "sleepy" users about 24 hours to get some WUs. This seems right; the dedicated users out there who don't have screaming computers deserve to participate, if only a little.

There have been WUs available off and on for several days now. The usual trickle method used. And now suddenly they are adding thousands at a time. Very different from the trickle they have been using. It's clear something has changed today. It points to a need for more crunching needed. So let's go!

for some reason i cannot merge 2 hosts that are actually the same machine after a re-install.

http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/show_host_detail.php?hostid=9654149
and
http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/show_host_detail.php?hostid=9642179

are actuallly the same machine as alll the specs show...

however when i click merge this host there are no other options to merge it with, strange as every other project seems to let me do this...

The project server SW needs to be upgraded to allow proper functionality.

Not sure if you're asking if there is a bigger limit, or if you are asking FOR a bigger limit...

If you were asking if there has been an increase: No, the limit is still 10.

Just making an observation. My machine had 22 tasks at one time. So the limit has been increased.

I'm not a fan of the scheduling "bug" they "fixed" with 5.10.14+. I'll be saying with 5.10.13 for my windows machines, and 5.10.10 for my Macs.

Was one of the projects DepSpid?

No sorry .I dont recall exactly what 9 they were but it was around the time i started crucnching/added superlink.

No it wasn't DepSpid? Or No you don't remember?

I ask because DepSpid is a non-CPU Intensive application, which means you can run up to 10 DepSpid tasks at the same time as other projects run one per core. So with an 8-core machine, you can be running up to 18 total tasks at the same time (8 normal + 10 DepSpid).

Good thing time was spent on changing the look and feel of the web site, rather than fixing the servers.
