Hello,
And apologise for causing 2 stinks. This is a Linux Box,Was under the Beleif that
all Linux related O.S.,I.E. {Red Hat,Geentoo,Linspire ect...} were under an
open source code of "NIX".
#2 Stink,
Should read Posts better next time then I will not be under the beleif that
Linux Boxes were not Receiving Work a while Back ummm 2 Months.Wheras Windows
Clients were.Presently am receiving "No work" for this Platform. Will look into that. And Posts I am reading elsewhere are stating they are Glad for the New
Experiment seeing as LHC was running on "Empty"/
Doug

>Well,2 days after LHC gave me 8 w/u today am receiving Redundant "No work for
this Client",Dohh, now I remember. Will keep up the attempts to get work.Maybe the last 6 Hour w/u for 45 Points was enough for the Day,NOT.nice difference in sizes though.Change keeps me intersested.Hello Kenny,"You B,s they killed Kenny"LOL

The crunching times are very different, e.g. http://lhcathome.cern.ch/results.php?hostid=48420

>Hello Desti,
I was a visitor to your site last week,How are you guys doing? After the w/u was
almost complete after 1 hour 5 minutes at 95% done,CPDN came on,LOL.From
the % part of a w/u figured it to be about 6 hours,LOL 1 Hour is just fine Thank you,LOL,also got another w/u downloaded ready to run.How long has LHC been
dolling out w/u to Nix users Desti? If you tell me a long time.I will have a bone to pick with the NIX usesrs at my Team.Actually this could cause a more drastic choice if I have been left in the dark {persay} by my "Teammates"
I will be more than Angry.Trust me.How long have you been getting w/units desti?
Sincerely
Douglas
4) Message boards : Number crunching : Projects use very little virtual memory? (Message 11261)

Post:
Keep in mind, Virtual Memory, while being a good thing which prevents applications from running out of "RAM" when needed, is a BadThing™ when it comes to actual performance. You really don't want to have insufficient physical RAM which would make LHC (or other projects) revert to Virtual Memory to compensate. Both your computers should be fine - 256-512MB is good enough for someone who isn't doing a lot of gaming, programming, or running several large programs at once. :)

(BBCode doesn't handle extended characters very well .. grr .. that was supposed to be a (TM) .. )

Thanks Travis,
This answered another quetion I had.
Happy Crunching

Hello All,
Am so happy to receive my first w/u from LHC in Months.
Hope they keep comming, just turfed an Experiment that
gave constant errors since 5.2.6 was released.Got as far
as 5.2.5 and gave up.
Wish all the NIX users get some work, always.
Happy Crunching all
Doug

<One Question, have been watching the w/u.Are they about 6 Hours long now?
I hope so,that would be great.Better back it up and save it in Cache ,just
in case it is like those w/u from the Experiment I dumped for errors. This Linux
Box is Rock Solid.Errors are generated through uploads with this other experiment.
Corupted the work to make it FuBar.6 HOURS????

in the tab.If that is wrong,I may not be back here for a while.Could you

please leave a "Personal" Mail ion my Inbox at Synergy that you have "Posted"

regarding this Matter.I do hope your Ideas come to Fruition Trulane.
