1) Message boards : Cafe LHC : BOINCstats logo poll (Message 17596)
Posted 29 Jul 2007 by Profile Cori
Post:
Most of you may have noticed we are having a new BOINC logo now. So there was a discussion at BOINCstats going on if they needed a new look as well or not. ;-)
Now Willy made a poll where everyone can vote for his/her favorite logo for BOINCstats and for BAM! (including the old ones if you wish no change at all).

So please spread the word and vote!
BOINCstats logo poll has opened!! Voting is possible until August 4th. :-)

PS: Blame me for these logos but not for the new BOINC logo itself if you don't like it/them. *grin*

Same with me.

I tried attaching on a host where LHC wasn't crunching before AND on a host where I just had to set the project to 'new work': Both times download failed.

I guess, I'll have to bump up this thread regularly until someone from the official side is going to notice it (and solve the issue maybe?!? ;-))

...but I feel it's a very very neglected project. No news, no updates, no idea why there is 7 month old work, problems with the php code, some account bugs...

And not to forget: very, very old pending credits! I found out that I have 3,100 pending credits for work I finished successfully within april to june 2005! I reported the problem over there in the alpha message boards, but I have no great hope that any of the "officials" will ever read those posting, as I posted the same already in august 2005 and since then NOTHING happened. Looking at all those nice results of mine... I feel they never will be granted... *sniff*

Another idea, when amount of credit is growing: visit the 'Top User' list and make a screenshot of your rank ;-)
7) Questions and Answers : Preferences : How use Select Computer option (Message 10040)
Posted 10 Sep 2005 by Profile Cori
Post:
If you want to use different preferences for your comps, you should manage this on your account-page on the website. You can select a different location for each computer and then specify the different preferences to each loacation.
At the bottom of the 'General Preferences' page you'll find the 'Add separate preferences for home/work/school'-links.
To change the location of your comp, go to Your account->View computers and click on 'Computer ID', then at the bottom of that page there's the option to change location.
In BOINC Manager I don't use different names for my comps, I leave this just blank or enter 'localhost', if connection fails.

Have fun configuring ;-) and crunching, of course!

<blockquote>could it please be possible to put on your hompage what the boinc preferences should be to get work from the lhc@home project.

please just one answer from lhc itself.

message boards only keep us in the dark.</blockquote>

Do you run other projects? If so, try suspending them temporarily, then manual update lhc, hopefully receive work, and continue the other project(s) again.

You may try PrimeGrid formerly known as Message@Home (PrimeGrid Homepage), it now has a deadline of 14 days and WUs are finished rather quick. But be aware that there is only pre-registration of accounts at the moment. (You can create an account as usual, but you'll have to wait "in the queue" to receive the email confirmation with the account key. And due to latest outage and server/homepage move, this queue may be a little longer...)

Happy crunchin' ;-)

@littleBouncer: I hope you didn't leave the "PrimeGrid"-project forever...
I could also create a german-speaking thread there, then some probs can be easier explained, und man muss nicht alles auf Englisch übersetzen, wobei ich mich dauernd vertipp ;-)

Hi, at least the M@h-website is running again and Rytis posted some good news in the message boards:
<blockquote>The server is back online on my laptop. I am (most probably) getting the database recovered tomorrow, and then I will put it back here and enable the scheduler.
I am considering buying proper hosting for the project. I will phone some hosting companies here tomorrow and get the details.</blockquote>
The front news are similar to yesterday's statement.
14) Questions and Answers : Windows : Please delete account nr 13839 (Message 9694)
Posted 28 Aug 2005 by Profile Cori
Post:
Yesterday I experienced a weird problem: I re-attached to LHC@home after a longer period of inactivity for this project. At least I wanted to to this, but on one of my computers it didn't work at all. The error message in BOINC manager (v4.72) was a pop-up window saying that the web-adress for attaching wasn't the right one for a BOINC project. Of course I copied&pasted the right one and tried some more times, then I tried a new account, hoping this would solve the problem. Unfortunately it didn't, so now I've got two... Sorry. Please delete the new one with the account-number 13839 (username="schrott")!
And I would appreciate any suggestions for the attaching-prob of course, too. THX in advance.

[i]Edit: WIN XP Pro SP2, BOINC CC 4.72, no probs before[i]

Let's keep the fingers crossed that he will be successful ;-))

[i]Edit: sorry, the link doesn't work, you must copy&paste the URL...[i]
