This is a definite *and* 443 and not an *or* ???? Some commercial installations won't let 443 out you know so if it is an *and* then you might lose some users here. 443 quite often gets firewalled out.

And his system was only created today. I have a few PCs and some can run LHC and some cannot ; same for CPDN too. So I guess you would find one or two of mine that did the same thing when first joining.

I notice he is using 4.70 which is alpha I believe. Seti users are having the same problem.....not necessarily O/C me thinks. He needs to move to 4.71....so he can a different but equally challenging problem set.

Strange!
Well.....before I put in my first WU my RAC was 0.53.....and I had done no work at that time. So....perhaps there is a fault somewhere. It must be wrong or as you say updated infrequently.

Not sure how many takers they want long term but it could be difficult unless they are prepared to open up the source for people to compile themselves.

Yeah I been checking for months then suddenly BANG! its open. Thanks for the welcome all. Am looking forward to making a contribution; cant have them protons flying too far off beam or......big repair job at the very least!

I actually think the work is far more interesting than SETI if I am honest so getting 8000 should be easily done. All the experimients at CERN look intriguing.....

OK thanks for the info people; all seems to be running ok now. Sorry for the newb-like question btw but I have trouble getting CPDN to run on 3 of my PCs but it will run fine on 2 others.....cannot see why. I just wondered if I might have the same probs with LHC.....but it appears not! This is gonna be a bigger community now new users are invited/allowed in so I guess you ole hacks need to be ready for these basic Qs. Again thanks.

Hmmmm seems odd but now another user has reported on the one of my WUs and also completed in a few minutes. Dodgy WU I guess. The WUs I am now processing seem to be OK with 17/18 minutes CPU used and projected 6 or 7 hours to completion. OK seems normal now.....

Just joined LHC. Put LHC on 2 Win XP boxes and both completed their first units in a few CPU minutes. Are the first test? or benchmark? Bad Units? Bad PCs lol? Any ideas welcome facts especially welcome.

Thanks
