Another one unit 1124228 waiting for the 5th due to a wide varience between systems. That was from the little womans computer so it says Karens rather than my name.

Has anyone else had any of these? Looks almost like they should be reissued just to be sure that the results are correct. Would hate to have the real particals go wrong just because of a couple computers not giving good results. In some cases 3 out of 5 just may not be good enoughf.
But ones like these just may be what we are getting to download now for there reruns.

I got a computational error 35% of the way on a CPDN workunit. How do I restore that workunit? I am running Boinc 4.45 on XP. 2.26GHz processor

As long as you made a backup of BOINC after you downloaded the unit and before that happened all you have to do is shut down BOINC and restore tha backup. But most only do that for CPDN as they have a lot of crashes. If you have a backup from that time frame b sure not to rerun the ones that were already run, and you will louse others that you downloaded after the backup. Not worth the work for one unit, just accept the fact that it is lost forever from your system.

He still has them hidden, guess that an answer is not needed by him. Why do so many people hide them anyways? It is not like anyone can hack them when not hidden.

Just loked at Unit 580979, that is strange one real fast and one a long time. But I have had a couple like that also lately, the validator waits till three match to see what is correct and grant credit.

One of mine like that work unit wjan1D_v6s4hvnom_mqx_nc__17__64.32_59.33__6_8__6__25_1_sixvf_boinc84507 had to wait for the 5th to be sent back to be validated, two real fast got no credit, the three longer running systems got credit. Did look strange with 4 returned and still pending.

Some units like that show why there are so many copies of each sent out, but should this be reissued? only the scientist can tell. Hard to believe that there would be that much diferance with the 2 systems that did not get credit.

New work again, just got 6 new units. Never saw this on the frunt page before:

Up, low on work
40055 workunits in progress
68 concurrent connections

Always said the number of units or out of work when ever I looked before.

The optomized BOINC will not effect any of the science clients. That one just states the requested credit higher.

That was designed that way to get the optomized SETI client to claim closer to the standard SETI client. The Optomized SETI clients ran so much faster than the standard one that they were claiming about one third the credit of the standard one and starting to cause granted credits to drop as more used the optomized science client.

On the down side it can not be programmed to only increase the requested credits for SETI, it will for all programs. In programs like CPDN it makes no diferance as you get a certain amount of credit for the work no matter how long it takes.

So getting the optomized BOINC to go along with the optomized SETI will work out good, with no effect on LHC other than you claiming a little more credit. But with so few at LHC using the optomized client it very rairley changes the granted credit.

And no optimized clients will help anything in the periods, where there's no work to get.

P
But you have to think of those who like to sit around looking at that nice optomized client when it is not working. As long as they use the one we are using now when there is work. Have to make them feel good.

As long as they went into the science database they can be used, so no complaints. Only have to move to another project when they run out of work. Credits would have been good, but not the important part.

Dave
There are always some of them, did not notice them above. Who ever you ment we probably will here about all the units that they sent in when the databases were having problems and they did not get credit.

Will have to wait and see if they complaine about that. As long as they got what they needed out of the ones that I sent in then I am happy with it, even though I don't get credit for them.

Looks like most have there credit now, just a delay in granting credit.

I have had some whare I had to wait a week or so, but they came through. The main thing is that the scientist get the info that they need.

My wife had a 486SX25 notebook, have not run BOINC on that eather as it only has 4 megs of memory. But from the speed of that you can figure that it would take at least 5 times longer than a P133. Than you figure in that the 486SX processors had no floteing point unit and for this dubble the time.

If you can read this, it isn't the database - but a missing or damaged table would cause the same error.

I woke up with a nightmare that all my credits were waped out from all programs, checked computer for results for LHC and found:

Warning: mysql_fetch_object(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /shift/lxfsrk4101/data01/projects/lhcathome/html/user/results.php on line 41

Warning: mysql_free_result(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /shift/lxfsrk4101/data01/projects/lhcathome/html/user/results.php on line 45

Looks like that is in the codeing for the server, not the database, that should be good.

Please don't let me have that dream again after this is fixed.
