What I am really trying to ascertain is what benefit is being provided by having outside computers supporting any of these projects. In simple terms, what is being accomplished? I thought this was to speed up data analysis but If the goal is not to eventually reduce time for someone what is being gained? Does any of this ever get used by anyone?. How is it determined that outside computers are contributing?

What exactly is the gain to these computers doing this processing? Surely it cannot be to save time to analyze data, so what is it exactly trying to accomplish? Thanks in advance
