1) Message boards : Number crunching : Internet continuity task dependency (Message 48080)

Currently the only subproject from LHC@home that does not require permanent internet access is SixTrack.
It will be superseded by Xtrack some day (no idea when), hence sends out tasks only sporadically.

Do you mind if I crash other tasks? It is a shame crashing them after they have run 22 hours.

Power failures and Internet failures crash my tasks. Now I have opted out of Atlas and CMS. Are there any other tasks sensitive to power failures and Internet failures?

I have VB, do I have to also load it with Linux or something or does it just need the VB itself? I run Climate with Zorin.
When you have VirtualBox installed, you only have to ask work from LHC@home.
To start with, select in your project preferences only Theory and unselect "Run native if available?".
A Virtual Machine (vdi-file) will be downloaded (only once) to your machine.

_____________

Thank you. Running. Now the other machines.

My machine shows a crunch time of eight hours. WU shows time 2,299.90 sec, 39 minutes. Claimed credit 9.85??????????????
DNetC, WU 27706407. Time 5,214. Claimed credit 59.59. Note, this project is showing actual time taken to compute while LHC is way off.
Decide for yourself as to who will waste their expensive energy charges and expensive machines for this?
I know we cant eat the credit so i dont want a smart comment. I just want you people to use your common sence. Nothing more. You want crunchers?

This Jujube is Dograth? Who murdered Tanpaku. Rich, should come more often and read the boards. Dograth, you are a pest of the first water. Ok! Now that i know you are here, i will of course be following your epic antics buddy.
Guys dont mind him take it from one who has been following around for ages, every court requires a jester. Just play with him, thats the only way to control him. The more you play the more he hops, try it and see. Enjoy yourselves.

Ok! Guys before you end up the wrong alley?

This project passed through one phase and we crunched and enjoyed that phase but do not lose heart when this silly Large Hadron Collider fires?? The we will get a lot of data to crunch. Until that earth shattering event??? there is nothing maybe for a few magnets that may require alignment. So wait like we all are and crunch some thing else in the meanwhile.
Regards.

Does any one know why there have been no WU\\\'s going out? I have been with this project for 2 going on 3 weeks now and as of yet had no work sent my way.
Does any body know why this is ???
I look forward to your answers and thank you for your help.
