I think LHC@home must find a way to spread the wu's a little fairer or there might come a time when they won't get their work done. It's not much fun to see that there are wu's and you don't get any for months. Maybe the crunccher who grab all they can should become a little less egoistic.

However, At some point, it may happen that there is work to do, but all the volunteers have left....

I'm a little sad, because I haven't got any work for months and now I see there is only work for some crunchers who seem to be better than others. If I don't get any wu's the next time new one's are to crunch, I'll forget about LHC.

But a machine with 5 units of work can finish them faster than a machine one-tenth of its speed can finish even a single work unit.

This maybe right, but even the slowest machine would have done some wu's since the last were given out. There are some people grabbing all the work and others don't get any.

Ok - I've had enough of this.

I made a single post wishing you all well, and gave as my reason for departing as the poor state of the project.

Since then I seem to have been turned into the devil incarnate beacuse I 'whinge and moan', because I 'post a dummy spit', because I 'hate the project', blah, blah, blah...

So let's get it right.

I don't hate the project. LHC has always been my favourite project, and the other projects don't interest me for a variety of reason I don't intend to expound upon here. I am disappointed by the lack of work, and the dearth of any realistic system support from CERN. And since electricity prices in Britain have doubled in the last 18 months I can't leave PCs on idly waiting for small amounts of work that don't materialise. So, I shut down BOINC.

I watch the boards from time to time to see if I can contribute. If I can, maybe I'll start BOINC up again. Meanwhile, I'd trouble those of you who have posted the real whining to stay polite.

Crunch well, everyone!

Hello Gaspode. Be asured you are not the devil incarnate. For the same reasons as you I will switch LHC to no work fetch if there will no informations about what is going on and when new wu's are available.

Thank you for your help. But it I can't log in.

Do you have the account key?

Yes, I have the account key. But maybe it is because I only have an account at LHC@home and not at LHC@home alpha.
