2 workunits per day? I want the drugs you're taking.

Thats a good thing though, gives me a chance to clear my boxs and get em ready for the assault!

It MUST be per IP address. Out of 3 boxs, 2 got 1WU each, one of those wu's errored out after 3secs, and it dosnt matter how much I "kick the client" I cant get a wu on the box that didnt receive 1, or a wu to replace the one that errored out.

@ Dagorath.... I've been keeping up with this thread since I asked my question about setting the cache on my box's. I'm not that eager to to get more WU's even though it would be nice. I think I'll just "kick the client" more often rather than "hammer the server"! But thanks anyway! LOL!

Its pretty straightforward, go to "your account" page, then click on "general preferences." now you will need to know which preference setting you have your computers set to (--- or default, home, work, school. you can check this by looking at your individual host(s) from the "computers on this account" section of the "your account" page.) then simply modify the preference settings pertaining to the host you are concerned with under "connect to network about every" XXX days where XXX is the size of the cache you desire.

a word of warning, if you crunch for projects that give you "extra" stats for being the first one to complete the WU (such as ABC) then a large cache won't work out well (as you will probably only confirm someone else's results.) on the other hand if you are attached to a project with stability issues (read nearly all projects) then a small cache might cause your PC to run out of WU for the duration of the outage (assuming of course you don't run more than one project.)

@daemion... thanx! I see what u'r talkin about now. I'll give it a shot next time some WU's come up!

You can of course accept whatever you want and what you want according to what you write is just to crunch any numbers pointless or not. Also you're not concerned if all your computer is doing is "BUSY WORK"

That maybe what you want but it's certainly not what I want and if this project continues to waste resources that other (just as deserving projects) could have used to actually accomplish something then I will donate my humble resources to them. Maybe even make a difference.

So you can determen as a partical physysist what they need to do as far as initial replication is concerned???

Good point(s) ... this thread could continue on forever. Everyone has a valid point, but the purpose of all Boinc projects is to accomplish a certain goal. Whether it's for testing something new, fixing existing problems, or for a real-time data crunching like LHC.

We've waited many, many months for work ... so I'm just happy we're crunching again and will contribute what I can. We got what we wanted, so let's just accept the fact that this project has an IR5 with a quorum of 3, done. No other projects would consider changing unless there was a big problem. Nanohive is the only project I know of that did just this. Anyway, my 2.55 cents, but let's be courteous here - all of us are contributing to one of the greatest creations of our time - - the collider!

This is the best post I've seen on this thread! HERE! HERE!

I don't suppose anyone has ideas about the need to login everytime? I still have to enter my email and password eaach time I power up my PC but this is the only Project I have to do that for - I didn't need to do it before the redesign.

I'm also haveing this problem since I had to reinstall windows.....xpsp2 IE7 on a p4 266G BTW my box stays on 24/7 so its not a matter of logging out of IE7,just LHC. Its not a big thing just really annoying!

How about using old data for a real test run before new data hits the pipline? I'm thinking on the order of 100K WUs.

Work out stuff now before real data is comprimised, is all I'm suggesting... (on both the client and server end)

Yep I second that, what did they call it over at APS a couple weeks ago?...
A "BOOM" test, to see if the servers could stand the load.

I don't think any of those will get out to the public, but I'd like to hear from anyone who got any!:0)

I just noted an interesting phenomon. I seem to have stopped getting ghost clients about the end of May. I believe that there may be a bug fix in the most recent version of the client.

BTW, you can merge something over 100 at a time.

I just merged 10 then 20 and then all.....I had over 180 so you can merge at least 150 at a time.
