1) Message boards : Number crunching : Resource share (Message 23664)
Posted 7 Nov 2011 by Odd-Rod
oooh i think i fixed it! Is it true that the resource share rule only applies for downloading tasks, and not the order in which the manager runs them? So, when there was a lot of tasks already downloaded, it will process those before it uses the rule? I aborted all qued tasks, and it looks like it only downloaded LHC tasks.

Yes indeed. Resource share applies for downloading tasks only. Once you have tasks downloaded, other factors determine which project will run at any given moment. Boinc doesn't necessarily run the oldest tasks you have downloaded - it tries to ensure that all work meets the deadlines.

Furthermore; I know you believe you understand what you think I said but I am not sure you realize that what your read is not what I meant.

Yep, that about sums it up!

By the way:
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Thanks for a great laugh!

Works fine with Firefox ...

But other forums (ok, fora) work with IE, so I guess that means the forums AND IE are bad ;)

6) Message boards : Cafe LHC : where can i order my free black hole? (Message 20327)

My boys have already got a black hole in their room. I think all the socks go there.

If you keep a black hole in your washing machine you\\\\\\\'ll find it selectively swallows only one sock of a pair of socks. One of those mysteries of the universe.

According to a CERN specialist, LHC has already destroyed earth. On the future.

Here\\\'s a webcam you can use to keep tabs on the LHC experiments. Not much usually happening but you never know.

This is a MUST-see! Brilliant!
