If they did away with the stats, how many would still crunch? Very few. Why do you think projects have stats and teams, etc. To get people interested and keep them interested. Very, very few people would crunch just for the science. Let's be honest about it. No matter what the reason, the projects get crunched and that's what the project needs.

Do not run the Boinc_gui.exe client. Instead, run the Boinc_Cli.exe client. After you get it setup with the Boinc_gui.exe client, shut it down. Go into the windows command prompt box and CD to your boinc folder. Then type the following "boinc_cli.exe -install". Go into the windows services and click on the Boinc service. Click the logon tab and click "Local system account". Start the service. DO NOT let your Boinc_gui client start at start up (very dangerous). Just take it out of your startup folder.

My Linux AMD boxes are being validated against Windows Intel boxes. Seeing that my credit on the Linux boxes are only half what they are on a Windows box. You guys with Windows boxes are getting lower credit when validated by a Linux box. Sorry. Check it out. :(:(

Yes I currently have two boxes on Linux with LHC. They are running at about the same speed as Windows but you only get half the credit for the same amount of time crunching. They did said they would try to fix it.
