I get this message from the LHC server:

03.01.2007 13:16:13|lhcathome|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user
03.01.2007 13:16:13|lhcathome|Requesting 16492 seconds of new work
03.01.2007 13:16:17|lhcathome|Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 502]
03.01.2007 13:16:17|lhcathome|Message from server: No work sent
03.01.2007 13:16:17|lhcathome|Message from server: (there was work but you don't have enough disk space allocated)
03.01.2007 13:16:17|lhcathome|Message from server: No disk space (YOU must free 1737.3 MB before BOINC gets space). Review preferences for maximum disk space used.
03.01.2007 13:16:17|lhcathome|Deferring scheduler requests for 1 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes and 0 seconds

I have set this preferences:
Disk and memory usage
Use no more than 8 GB disk space
Leave at least
(Values smaller than 0.001 are ignored) 0.1 GB disk space free
Use no more than 80% of total disk space
Write to disk at most every 60 seconds
Use no more than 75% of total virtual memory

The free space on the disc is >21 GB and the only bigger thing is climate prediction with a usage of 2.44 GB.

Now what is the problem here?

Very interesting. What BOINC Client are you using? Can you switch to the Disk Usage and tell us what the BOINC Client says there?

Well, first of all thank sysfried for your "effusive" response.

I only hope you don't treat all the people like you are treating me. I hope too, that the other people in this forum are not like you.

Why?

1) Because I hope you don't think that people with a few credit cannot opinate. I think everyone can opinate and expose a potential problem to the project. If in this forum can only post the "gurus" and "grandmasters" I think is a bad forum.
2) Because I normally read the forums of a project before creating a thread but I don't have the suficient time to read it all. Can you asure me that you have read all the threads in the forum?
3) Yes, I have only 39 credits in this projects but my RAC is more than a thousand superior to you and I'm in boinc projects since 2001. With that I want to say you that I'm not a novice in BOINC.

In summary, I think your position is very arrogant.

Dear Aroigoli.

First off, I want to apologize for my indeed very arrogant post. You state that you're with Boinc projects for a few years now and while you have a RAC higher than me, we have comparable total credits. I'd like to welcome you to the LHC project and gain some credits here, because this is a worthy project.

But maybe you do agree with me that someone who doesn't have much credit and writes in his first post on a forum that stats are not exported while there are many threads here talking about this topic, should consider reading the frontpage news and forum threads first before asking for stats. I'd call this a "RTFM" Issue. Or in polite words: "your post was useless" . Can we agree on that?

There are nice people around and I have to say that I was a bit upset this morning and next time, I won't check the forum until I get into a better mood so this won't happen again.

To answer your three issues:
1. You can always ask, but if it's a topic that has been covered already, consider answering that specific thread rather than creating a new one.
2. Consider that a YES. LHC is the only forum where I've read ALL postings in the past years. Consider it a no for all the other projects I'm attached to.
3. I tried to use your total LHC credit and LHC posting count to state out that you're a LHC novice.

Sincerely,

Sysfried

I think statistics in BoincSinergy and BoincStats doesn't reflect the correct number of credits. Something similar occurred in nanohive project time ago and was caused by a change in the project's URL. Then someone (I supose the administrators of that project) informed the new URL to the admins of BoincStats.

Stats aren't being updated? NO SHIT.

OMG! Is this for real? Someone with 39 Credits and 1 Post...

Hey, AROIGOLI... STATS ARE NOT EXPORTED! READ THE F......ontpage of this site! Read the Forum before you bore us again with your presence!

Was just looking through my results for this run and found something that needs to be checked out. It was not my client with the problem, but I thought it best to point it out. THis work unit is the one I'm refering to. The 4th one in, computer # 159657, has recieved only half the points of the 3 of us who made up the quorum. Never saw this happen before. If you look at the result Details it was marked invalid. Should it not then receive zero for this result?

Steve

Interesting. But I think it's ok. The client reported data not knowing that it's false. The server compared the other results and found propably some mistake and marked it invalid. Still, the client had reported data and therefore is granted some credit. Three valid results have been found. I think it is fair that although that specific WU had one invalid result, still everyone does get some credit.
Haven't seen that before.

Dear Neasan & Co.

I strongly recommend reviving the LHC@Home Alpha for your new server. There are experts around assigned for that project and I bet it would help you a big deal if you set up the Alpha with dummy WU's first so you can straighten out the startup hickups.

Sysfried

PS: I'm not a member of the LHC@Home Alpha, but I know that there are BOINC experts in that team.

Maybe I can put some light on the short runtimes of many of the latest WU's.

I've been with LHC for quite some time, so I know what it's about.....

The time calculated as "calculated time" depends on how many "turns" you've got with each WU. This is a variable only the Admins change prior to creating WU's. The Sixtrack software simulates electrons travelling within the LHC. Once in a while one or more electrons crash into the wall and are subtracted from the calculation and this leads into less electrons travelling in the next turn.

So when you start with X electrons at, let's say 1.000.000 turns, you get Z time needed. This will vary on your cpu. Of course faster cpu's will calculate the one million turns faster than a slow one.

If too many electrons crash, the whole simulation ends immediately or is calculated within minutes if not seconds.

I hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Sysfried

Morgan --

You're not the only one who seemed to get very few WUs out of the last batch - yet others got plenty. I wonder why? Are the settings on the various machines to blame, or can some of our fellow crunchers "encourage" the system to give out larger/more blocks of data?

Any thoughts/comments out there?

Propably enough WU's from other projects in the queue...

Or ask River~~ ;-)
