After 7 years on dial-up Internet was finally able to get a DSL connection in my area and now I can really sent back data if we are given a chance to compute it. Can we get some more computer experts in to set-up your machines and at least get a count of where we all stand as far as completed credits are concerned.

44) Message boards : Number crunching : SOME greedy users (Message 16044) Posted 5 Jan 2007 by Yank Post: The last time LHC had units to work on, about 5 or 6 days ago one of my three computer got about 20 to 30 units ( I didn't count them). The other two didn't get any. Just SETI and LHC are the only working programs on these machines and they share 100% computer time. I have a five day cache. The units I have still working on the LHC program have a completion time of about 5 hours +/-. Since LHC has a completion return date sooner than SETI, LHC are being completed first, two units at a time. I think the machines are running like they should, but with all this talk of a few people being greedy in the download of work units I was concerned that perhaps my machines were taking too much and was wondering just what is too many units?
45) Message boards : Number crunching : SOME greedy users (Message 16037) Posted 5 Jan 2007 by Yank Post: I really don't want to be known as greedy user, however running 9 computer and having three of them listed with LHC and other programs and when I am open to a download and LHC is open to receive any units from LHC, which is not offen,how do I actually stop receiving too many units of work (and what is too many units)? I do know that when I receive LHC units my SETI units take second place due to completion time as LHC units usually have a short cpmletion return time. I have never counted those units coming in but lately it seems there have been many and many of them have been having a quick return time as well as a quick completion time. If you are not connected with any other team perhaps you could join the US NAVY Team.

50) Questions and Answers : Windows : unable to download boinc program (Message 11504) Posted 29 Nov 2005 by Yank Post: Running Windows XP at home,2.4 cpu,256 memory. I was running Boinc on this computer for some time with other programs such as seti, clim. prediction, esintein and now LHC. After a slight mishap, deleting my Boinc program, I am unable to download it again. Have tried four times, two different versions of Boinc, and I am informed that I still have a version of Boinc installed and will not be able to complete the download. I have tried everything I know, add/remove program, deleted all files and folders with the name of boinc in it, deleted all protected files and folders with the name Boinc in it etc. WHAT is the next step I can try.
