Number crunching :
Resource share

Posted 7 Nov 2011 by Gundersen Post: Okay, this is not working, i guess i have overlooked something. In the manager, under Projects, i can see that Einstein got 0, and LHC 100. Which then also is displayed as 0% and 100%. But in the tasks tab, it is still running 50/50. 2 tasks running from einstein, and 2 from LHC, while 2 tasks from LHC is in que, waiting to start. What have i done wrong? Thanks! *EDIT* oooh i think i fixed it! Is it true that the resource share rule only applies for downloading tasks, and not the order in which the manager runs them? So, when there was a lot of tasks already downloaded, it will process those before it uses the rule? I aborted all qued tasks, and it looks like it only downloaded LHC tasks. |

Posted 5 Nov 2011 by Gundersen Post: Hi fellow BOINC'ers. I am quite new to this BOINC'ing, and i got a very general question about the BOINC manager. In the "Projects" tab, there is something called "resource share", which to me looks like its a way to set how important a project is. Right now I am crunching for LHC and einstein, but i only have einstein so my computer wont be idle in case there isnt any jobs. is it possible to choose, lets say, 25% for einstein and 75% for LHC? or have i totally misundestood what "resource share" means?
