I don't if it is related ore not, but I'm recently getting assigned work with applications that are not the best choice for my CPUs (getting unoptimized or SSE2 app on processors that used to get PNI tasks).

More than 450 000 WUs to do ... it's been a lot time since we saw so many WU to process.

I hope there won't be to many short WUs and that we'll have work for more than a week :)

All the WUs I got today (18) ended in Invalid status ...

When the last one ended, I was monitoring the machine and I noticed a lot of disk accesses when it was finilizing the works after reaching 100% and before sending the results.

When the WUs are starting on Windows, sixtrack executable is not using a lot of CPU time, but one conhost.exe process and the csrss.exe process are using the CPU. After this phase which lasts about 2-3 minutes depending on the system which runs the project, only the sixtrack executable uses the CPU.

I see a similar behaviour on Windows 7 and XP.

For the moment I prefer to stay with the classic BOINC server setup as preferred by some volunteers too.

That's why I'm still contributing to this project :)

A humble suggestion from a Linux user: go the Test4Theory@home way by using VirtualBox. I am using both versions of the wrapper, the old one on a PC with BOINC 6.10.58 plus the new version on a PC with BOINC 7.2.41 and a Ubuntu Virtual Machine with BOINC 7.2.39. They all work well.

I doubt that I will be doing this project if it goes the VM route.
Too much of a hassle for limited gain for me.
It is the reason I don't run Test4theory, Climate@home and RNAWorld.

I will just go to another project that runs the way I am running at the moment.

It is a good idea and probably the way to go?, but at this stage not for me.

Conan

I definitely agree with your point of view !

Hi Eric,

I'm seeing the same behaviour as described in this thread. The error rate accross my machines is quite low anyway (about 1%).

After your holidays, I hope you'll be able to figure out what happens :)

Hi Eric,

In this case we're not talking about SixTrackTest but Sixtrack production WUs ...

And I double checked, it's also Skyhawk's machine linked by Yeti which is trashing work :(
